Lost car keys

Hi guys

Having a bit of a nightmare. I parked at my local train station to get train to work yesterday morning. On my way home I realised I never had my keys, so left car at station. Came into work this morning expecting them to be on my desk, not here.... I must have lost them on the train, but nothing has been handed in yet. I do not have a spare set of keys. Also, no key cover on my insurance. If they do not get handed into lost property at station, I take it my only option is to pay a fortune to get the car lifted, and get the whole lock system replaced in my car?

Thanks

    1. Report your car keys lost to the police station. Report it with the train company as well, hopefully someone will hand it back and it will go to the lost and found office of that company.

    2. In the mean time if you can get someone to drop you off at the train station for the next few days that would be helpful; just in case if someone hands the keys back.

3.What is the make and model? If your car is old you can go to a local car locks smith. If not, you may have to go to the dealership. Bring in your drivers license, V5 document for proof off address and that you own the car.

I would also report it to your own motor insurance company. As per previous post if your car is more mature then a lock smith should be able to help. If not ??? Some keys can cost an awful lot. Not just for the key itself but also programming. Fingers crossed they get handed in tomorrow. Ps where your house keys on the same bunch? If so you may want to think about changing the locks on your house/ flat. Again fingers crossed.
Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A

You'll have to get it towed. Looking at another £60-100 so call in we're talking about £250 all because of your irresponsibility.

I hope it isn't obvious which station you are parked at. If someone dishonest finds the keys it may no longer be there.

Google for local mobile car key cutting companies, they'll come to the station and do it.

Don't be a !!!!!!, Darkmatter. You're a fine one to go lecturing people.

OP - this is however, a timely reminder of why you should never buy a modern car with only one key. Gone are the days of my old Triumphs where you could start them with a coat hanger!

Make sure you get 2 keys cut, are they changing all the locks also and removing the lost key from the immobiliser system?
