Praise of Tesco - winning customers back

Very pleased, we had to return two items of clothing yesterday that we had lost the receipts for. I was expecting to get half the value in exchange which is what happened last time but we were delighted to get the money back, in cash. They said it was part of "winning customers back". Pretty big of them to admit previous failure, and nice service for once.

How did they fail before? If you didn't have the receipt and the items had been reduced they were correct to give you the current selling price.

still got my doubts , my local extra store has removed LOADS of items that they used to stock for the shelves but still cannot manage to keep the shelves stocked with the items that they still carry

I'm not saying they did anything wrong before, but what they did was above and beyond expectation and therefore I thought, as I was complaining about a different company on a different thread - I would give credit where credit is due and praise good customer service.

You said it was big of them to admit previous failure, but they didn't fail, even a partial refund was above and beyond what you were entitled to.

Tesco said they were "winning customers back" - hence they are admitting they have lost them by being generally poor and are trying to improve.

Who says they lost them for being generally poor, they didnt lose you as you went and bought the goods
  • They've lost customers because they're expensive compared to other supermarkets

When we called at Tesco the other day to do our grocery shopping, we were greeted at the entrance with an assistant giving vouchers for £4 discount.

There is a Home Bargains, Lidl and Booths newly built in our area, and Tesco have become much quieter than they were.

A nice surprise to receive the voucher.

I rarely shop there anymore but did so recently.

I have to say I did notice a change in attitude. They were giving out tasters which they never used to do and it worked as we bought the items we tasted.

I also had a call asking me to do a survey on my recent communications with customer services, so they do seem more concerned with keeping customers happy.

I shop at Tesco, more than anywhere else, because they support my local food bank and I always like to donate an item when I'm shopping.

Beside that, as I'm on a diet 3 or 4 times a year, I'm quite often looking at low fat/sugar meals and they have the largest selection of the supermarkets in my area.
