Argos eBay outlet - refusing to refund for broken phone

It's possible the phone was damaged whilst being sent to you, and that it did leave Argos without fault. I've bought several recon items from them and never had a problem - although there will always be exceptions to the rule.
Contact a local phone repair shop and get a price for repairing it - or buy a different phone and sell this one as faulty.0 -
You need to accept you're not going to get anywhere.
The item was damaged when you received it. A refurbished phone should not have a cracked screen.
By not saying anything at the time and then using it for 3 months, you have accepted the goods.
Sorry.
Either get it repaired or bin it.0 -

Thanks, that makes sense.
I still think the thread should serve as a warning that you could buy the screen and not be able to see any damage but it will not be covered through their guarantee. Don't let their "refurbishment" fool you - it is still a second hand phone with all the risks attached. Don't let the Argos brand give you any false confidence.0 -

But as an example, the replacement of the front glass and the LCD screen behind it costs £69.99 for a Samsung Galaxy S3 at quickmobilefix*.
*other repairers are available.0 -
Thanks, it is a Galaxy S30

Thanks Wealdroam. I had to replace my beloved S3 at very short notice, couldn't afford even a 2nd hand one, never thought about a repair and how much it would cost. Looks as if I can get mine fixed cheaply and keep the phone I am currently using as a spare.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I simply don't understand why somebody to whom £120 is a lot of money would spend that amount on a secondhand phone.
I paid £25 for a brand new Lumia from O2 a while back - brilliant Windows phone. The one I had before that was a super Android phone for about the same amount, and I only changed it because I fancied a Windows phone.0 -

Yes there's a whole range of phones that are cheaper than the £120 the OP paid.0 -
This forum has become so prickly. Thanks to those who offered a little consolation and advice without seeming gleeful about it.0

I agree, those who don't like the advice they are given do tend to be overly defensive, and as you put it so well, prickly0
