Can I Have My Wages & Benefits Paid Directly Into My E-Savings Account?

Afternoon,

I am wanting to know if it is possible for me to get my wages and benefits paid into my e-savings account (Santander) and then for me to set up a standing order to transfer money into my current account to cover my direct debits?

I get paid weely and want to manage my money a little bit better and also try and save as much as i can

Thank you in advance

Sophie

Yes, all accounts can be paid in, providing you have the account number and sort code? Current accounts, savings accounts, ISA accounts can all have money paid in as all you need is the account number and sort code. Why do you want your wages and benefits paid into one account for you to transfer it to the other? Wouldn't it be easier getting it paid into your current account as there's also direct debits on the account so it's technically your main account? Also are you getting wages AND benefits?
  • Yeah i understand where you are coming from with getting it all paid into my current, i just want to try and get on top of my finances but struggling to sort it out if you know what i mean? Yes i do a few hours work from home as i am unable to get into work due to my disability... its complicated but grateful i am still able to work with my lovely employers who accept my condition

You can pay directly into eSaver as it has the sort code and the account number, but I don't think it allows setting SOs even to other Santander accounts.

Oh right I understand, you don't want to get confused with your finances. Oh right I understand, that's absolutely fine.
  • Yeah because that's happening and i hate not knowing where i am with things...

Just open another current account. For example, a TSB Plus account that pays you 5% interest on your balance up to £2K. Your Santander e-saver cannot compete with that.

I was thinking about changing banks also, but I don't have the slightest clue about anything! But yeah, I tried to open another current account with Santander and they declined me? So hence why I was asking that question!

Could be because you already have an account with Santander, or your credit files look really bad. Have you recently checked what they say?

If you have bad credit records, you could always try a Basic Bank account. See the article at the top of the page

It's not necessarily true, a sortcode check will establish what types of transaction are allowed. It's quite possible that the account owner may be able to pay into it from another account at the same bank, but other people may not be able to.

Try http://www.fasterpayments.org.uk/consumers/sort-code-checker to see what is allowed.
