Residents' bay markings

Options
I just received a parking ticket on a stretch of residential road that has (now I know) recently been designated Permit Holders only from 9 am to 8 pm.

There is a new sign at the head of the road pointing this out. I didn't see this as I turned in. Then, along the entire stretch of road of approx 300m, there are no signs or road markings whatsoever, other than double-yellow lines near the actual road junction. I was parked beyond that, on a stretch without markings or signs nearby.

Can the council really just put up a sign at the head of a road with no other markings or signage along it in this way? Who checks for brand new signs indicating new parking restrictions whenever they turn into a road?

Who has issued the parking ticket?

https://www.pepipoo.com is probably your best bet for a council ticket, we tend to specialise in private parking companies here.

Sounds like a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), in which case you ARE supposed to have seen the signs at the entrance to the road (sadly), but the guys on Pepipoo might have some ideas on how to appeal this.

I was wondering whether this might have been a Wing/Council scenario?

Thanks for confirmation, so over to PePiPoo. This link will get you straight to the correct sub-forum.

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate).

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.
