Won an item but need to sell it - advice please

I won a FatMan iTube Valve Amp from the September Issue of T3 magazine. (All of you T3 readers, Yes, I wrote the Crapple article)

Its worth £300 RRP but I dont have an ipod so its not much use. Anyway I want to sell it for as much as possible. The maximum I have seen it for is about £220 but I would really like more for it seen as im a student and Im going to have at least £20,000 debt when I leave (Stupid fees)

Is their anyway I can take it back to a shop and claim a refund on it saying it was a present or return to a random online shop. I dont have any proof of purchase though since I won it.

Does anyone know of any shops which sell it so I can take it back and get a REFUND not credit vouchers? Or do you want to buy it?

This is the one I have http://www.fat-man.co.uk/docs/product_07/iTube_ValveDock.shtml

  • mate I'd just be happy with the £220. I mean presumably it was an unexpected win so anything you can get for it is a bonus really isn't it? Fact is the minute you take ownership of something it devalues because a vendor can no longer guarantee its condition - even if its 'new', 'sealed' etc. etc. Without proof of purchase it could be faulty or even knicked as far as jo bloggs buyer is concerned.

Worth £300?? How many would you like?

The real price is under £250 so £220 looks a deal.

You are commiting fraud taking it back, which at the extreme carries a prison sentence and criminal record.
Your getting the £220 for free anyway by winning it and you should of thought about the £20k of debt when you were busy !!!!ing your loan away.

If the maximum its gone for is £220 then you are fairly optimistic in getting this for yours, I would expect the highest prices to be for auctions with sellers of long standing and good feedback. For a fairly high value item you and if you are a newish seller you won't get the highest price because buyers will be wary of you.

Could try to list it "as new".....!

Seriously though, whether you realised it or not, what you were asking was how to defraud a retailer. Even if anybody did know a way, I do not think it would be written on a VERY public forum.

It's also worth beraing in mind that RRP bears very little in relation to true market value. If these are being sold at a maximum £220 on ebay, Dabs, Amazon etc, then that's all you are likely to get for it, ulnless you can find some way to increase the desireabilty of you actual item. Maybe enclose a copy of your award winning article and be creative with your listing??

Erm **** off. £20,000 debt equalls 4 years at Uni. £3000 a year for tuition fees and £3000 a year for maintenence loan which doesnt even cover accomodation.

Thats £6000 a year GONE without the costs for food, books, travelling. Say £6500 year MINIMUM. £6500 X 4 = £26000. Take away couple of hundred because of my JOB. Hopefully that puts it into perspective why students are complaining. Hardly fair is it so I can have a good education, have a good job and succeed!

Sorry about that, I get really annoyed when people here the word Student. Then go on about how we blow our loans on going out. Thats my total debt from 4 years without going out and socialising. I dont even go out that often, im too busy trying to make money from websites and a part time job back at home. If only they knew what really happens.

    Be cool, guys :)

    Studying is expensive.

Loans suck (I have one still)

'**** off' is kinda against the 'be nice to all moneysavers' thing

Returning stuff you didn't buy is dishonest.

Trying to sell stuff on the forums is a no-no.

    Any questions? :D
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
