Downgrading wheel and tyre size

Loads of Focus started life as lease cars and would be a fairly standard spec.
I wonder if yours was originally a private owner and they had the 17" wheels fitted.
Though living in Essex loads of Focus have the 17" wheels fitted. (Mk2 Focus)
Best to have a look at your rear suspension though as I have never had that wear pattern on either of the Focus I have had over the years, admittedly mk1 not MK2.
Or on my V50 which had more miles than the space shuttle, the V50 being a Focus with a posh frock on, though a much more comfortable interior, albeit with a slightly to large steering wheel.
Chances are a change in business plan will see me back in a Focus estate or V50 again.
Jaguars are nice but my god they can be unreliable.0 -
Volvo V50 is a Focus underneath?0

Please bear in mind you will also have "Less Desirable" wheels on the car at the point of sale. So if you are planning on selling anytime soon, it may be worth keeping the larger alloys.
The more I've thought about it, the more I'm leaning towards keeping the other wheels to swap over if needed when selling just in case it does make a difference resale time.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

You should also get a smoother ride out of the smaller wheels. Big wheels and low profile tires will give rutty rough ride on a smallish car. Get yourself a real car. Come over to the bmw mini :rotfl:0

I spent a lifetime working for ford, cars are boring to look at and always tinny bodies. The only time I* had em was when we got a staff discount of 22%. When that stopped I bought a real car. Only the Germans know how to build a real car and put a real engine in it. REAL ENGINE:rotfl:0

They know how to put them in yes, but apparently that's as far as it goes. Statistically, VW, Audi, Merc, BMW recent engine failure rates and general reliability are some of the worst of any manufacturer.
Highlighted recent, because an ancient reputation based on marketing and the reliability of cars which are no longer being manufactured is not really a valid basis for your claim.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

But don't many of your beloved BMW Mini's have an engine developed by Peugeot and built near Birmingham?
In contrast my Ford was built near Saarbrücken by Germany engineers, no doubt from good Aryan stock, with an engine developed by those good people at Volvo.0 -
The 17" wheels (205/50/17) were standard on the Zetec spec Focus, but LX*/Sport/Ghia came whith the very common and cheap 205/55/16.
*LX actually came with steel wheels but still 205/55/16 as my BIL's car still has them.0
