When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning everyone :) will take it easy today as last night the wave of feeling upset and sad hit me again :(

Weather lovely here

small things:

* [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]load of washing in machine and will hang out on line[/STRIKE]
* flylady
* [STRIKE]going to collect a courgette plant from a freecycler[/STRIKE] :j This was sooooo fantastic! Lovely big plant which has loads of courgettes on it, he also gave me a cucamelon plant, 3 courgettes and some green beans :T how wonderfully kind! :A Have planted the courgette already. Wilted an awful lot in my car, hope it perks up
* [STRIKE]posted a request on freecycle for a buggy as someone stole ours[/STRIKE]
* possibly go to aldi and get super 6 and some milk while in town at an appointment this afternoon not going to bother now just going to use what we have until we have nowt!
* job search
* email friend who is going to email further details of the job I applied for last week and have an interview for next week - I quite like the look of this job...
*email another friend who mentioned yesterday a part time role that sounds interesting
* all meals from stores
* really do need to make a cake today. Am really scrapping the barrel for Dgd's packed lunches now :( can't afford to go shopping unless my credit card statement has been issued. Will check account today and if not issued will make some cheese straws to get through to Thursday!

That's it. I might gather the items stored in the garage and shed to make wine and start a little project. Think it will be good for me to invest some time in something I can get my teeth into.

Hurrah was able to go and buy some groceries :j used £4 MOC & it came to £21.03. If I'm frugal/resourceful we should keep GC spends at around £30 this week as will need milk, bread and fruit in the week but currently have satsumas in the fridge and tinned fruit so will wait until they are gone before getting more and therefore no wastage ;)

Foxgloves so sorry to hear about the accident :mad: hope Mr F can make it better x

Yorkshirelass hope the appt is as painless as possible for your ds x

    Morning everyone

    DS is at hospital this aft for his regular treatment. Its a bit of a grind, 100 mile round trip then sitting on the ward for about 4 hours while he is hooked up to a drip. Parking can be a nightmare too.

    Anyhow I called at L@dl yesterday for drinks and snacks so that we dont have to pay hospital prices and he can stuff himself with junk while its all being done!

    I am at work this morning and will set off a little earlier so I can detour to the slightly cheaper petrol station on the way. Best get moving!

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start DNMS. Hope things start to look up for you soon.
    Hope your son's treatment goes well Yorkshirelass

    Well, I haven't posted for a few days, as I have had a really hectic time looking after lively grandchildren :eek: but I did read. Really sorry (and angry) to hear about Foxgloves' car incident :mad:

    Right, so nothing was done apart from entertaining children over the last 3 days (these two really are a bit of a handful, and make the baby GD I look after one day a week seem really easy in comparison) so I need to get on and sort out the aftermath today! The good thing is I am not feeling as shattered as I expected this morning :rotfl:

    So, today's list:
    Wash up all the used crockery that seems to have found its way all over the house Done
    Put away just about everything that seems to have found its way everywhere Mostly done
    Load of washing in machine at the moment, which I will dry outside once it is done Done
    Sort out the spare room and wash bed linen Done, got that dry as well :)
    Make a loaf in the BM Done

    Cleaning everywhere (I am not especially fussy, but sand, hamster food - yes he/ she came as well - and playdough stuck to general stickiness everywhere is not a good look :rotfl:) Done top 2 floors, downstairs will have to wait till tomorrow

    Read meters and upload readings. I have just signed up for another year with Ovo, as I have found them better to deal with than other companies I have tried before. I didn't even bother with the comparison sites, as even if they told me that the horrors that I have dealt with before are a couple of quid cheaper, I probably wouldn't a) believe them, or b) want to go through all that billing confusion /general incompetence / lack of any kind of customer service again :eek: Done

    Try to find a minute to pop down to sales unit to check / tidy up / see if by some miracle new stock were needed etc! Done, a couple of bits gone but no new stock needed unfortunately :(

    Water anything in garden that needs it. Sort out strawberry plants now they have finished fruiting. Sort out and feed tomato plants. Done watering and tomato plants, strawberries will have to wait till tomorrow

    Right, off to load the dishwasher and bread machine and make a start. More coffee needed too I think!

    Hope everyone has a good day :)
  • Hurrah! Small blessings but the statement has been produced so I can afford to get a few groceries :)

    Morning all!

    I'm back after a lovely weekend away. Overspent slightly by £10-£20 so not too much damage. However I was meant to drive me and OH so filled petrol up on Thursday shortly before we then found out we could get a lift with friends! But when it came to the end of the weekend, I then realised I had to give her £25 which I didn't have left! So bit more of an overspend but I still have a tank full of petrol!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check bank
    * Calculate overspend and rejig next months budget
    * Go shopping on lunch break to list written last week!
    * Write down all money owed to me by OH - one day he'll have his LBM and start being good with money!
    * Go to circuits
    * Dinner from stores
    * Wash hair and let dry naturally
    * Finish sorting out bags from weekend

    Ok - that's a very short list!

    Hope you're all ok - I haven't read all the posts from the weekend but I did see Foxgloves had an accident, pleased your ok.

    Hi All

    Just wondering, Bob, did your ins issue get sorted? I keep hoping to see a celebratory post.

    Really please by july gc spends. Will come in way under budget if I do not inc my last sat delivery. Am very relieved as I was beginning to wonder if I would manage it.

    Aim to swim twice this week as have not been since friday, I can feel it slipping. Must keep at it. DD payment means it is cost effective if I go at least twice a week.

    DD took her car to a garage in Corwall as it was making a knocking noise, lovely mechanic had a drive, agreed, said leave car with me whilst I put on ramp to investigate. 2 hours later, a baffled mechanic gets another, who drives it, puts it on ramp, has a lbm and says open boot. A spanner was rattling in the spare wheel bit. No repair required. How much do I owe you says DD who was aware of the now 3 hours investigations. Nothing said the mechanic. NOTHING. DD nearly fell over. She went and bought the boys some biscuits as a thank you. How lovely is this. The chief said we would not want you driving it if you were our daughter incase it was not safe. Am absolutely stunned by this. Kindness occasionally overwhelms me. Will be lighting candles for these boys on Sunday.

    Just thought I would share.

    Have a good day everyone. Maria.

    I've just made a decision which I think is a good one! I didn't get the job I applied for meaning I won't have to deal with a pay cut. But I did get a payrise recently at my current job which equates to £200 a month extra. As my CC is interest free, I will use £100 to build up my emergency fund and I've just set up to overpay my mortgage by £100! Apparently that will knock over 10 years off the term and save over £12k interest!
