Awful BBC coverage of the British Open golf today.

A far more serious failing: twice the BBC allowed a presenter to talk over David Cameron's anti terrorism speech making it a well crafted statement spoiled. All that golf is just a load of ballsLife is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0

Er no....the load of balls is BBC lol ! What a load of clap !! As soon as we stop paying for our TV license, the better. It deserves no money imho.
Anyway the play-off will be starting soon and I will then send my email to BBC.0 -

As a matter of interest what do you expect your complaint to achieve? It's just going to be a generic response apologising, probably mentioning the fact the Monday was unexpected and also it will probably mention the fact they showed around six hours of live coverage.
They can't go back in time and show this early footage for you!0 -
Yep just sent an em to BBC to complain. Thanks goodness I took a day off work sick.0

You "took a day off work", meaning one (a) isolated day on Monday the 20th July 2015? Or are you off sick long term? Or do you have some ongoing (non alcohol-related, in the context of a hangover) medical condition which causes you to take a random day off every now and then?
(ps I'm not too interested in the real reason!)
I suspect, though, that your employer might be interested that you are watching golf and writing complaint emails to the BBC (when funnily enough they are going to do jack all for you!) on your sick day. Why don't you let us know who your employer is, and we can send THEM a "complaint email" tooHell I'll even go to their office, not far from Liverpool myself me old mukka!
But no, just making an observation here. If you've had a sick day with no illness (ie skiving) then be grateful that you got to watch the golf in the first place (and try not to get any evidence which may result in people questioning how sick you actually are, such as forum posts or emails which may be traceable!). If you've had a sick day WITH AN ILLNESS then maybe your priorities should be in getting better than writing complaint emails?0 -

BBC have numerous channels on Freeview, why don't they dedicate one to "sport" instead of ruining the evening by changing sceduled programming at the last minute? As for broadcasting tennis on BBC1 and BBC2 simultaneously - I don't pay my license to watch adults bobbing balls around year after year for no reason... I can vaguely understand the type of sport which sets records, like the 4 minute mile, but stuff like tennis and football which is merely boring and repetitive - why?
nb - and golf0 -
BBC Golf coverage has been awful for years.
They're only interested in showing the top 4 players on the leaderboard (if one of these is British.. make that only interested in showing ONE player). hence why they think its OK to start broadcasting at 2pm.
A few years ago they showed nothing but Rory or Lee Westwood (forget which) cos they thought he was gonna win. Then Phil Mickelson came storming through to win at the last minute and they hadn't showed any of his round at all.
Add to this, cameramen who have difficulty spotting golf balls or holding the camera still.. and a desire to show long musical panning shots of the crowd or scenery instead of actual golf...
Only plus is the excellent commentators.0 -

IIRC the BBC is not allowed a dedicated sports channel and don't have enough sport to fill one most of the time.
They used to have more "red button" channels but since they've started doing more regional variations of their HD ones (to match the SD regions) those have been getting closed down.0 -
1. BBC isn't free.
2. Peter Aliss.
3. Their latest penchant for close-ups of the golf ball on long putts, so that you can't see where the hole is, meaning you have no idea until after the golf ball stops whether the putt is going in or 10 yards past.
4. The BBC is FULL of adverts. For itself. And almost all of the incredibly annoying variety
"where one voice says this"
"then another voice says that"
Just some of the things to dislike about it.
Scrap the licence & let them fend for themselves.0
