How long to get a tax rebate from HMRC after submitting R40 form?

Asking in this forum because its specific to getting back tax paid on savings in past tax years.

I sent in the completed R40 form nearly 8 weeks ago.

I have not had a reply or a rebate:(

The HMRC website says to wait six weeks before thinking about contacting them.

I'm wondering if anyone in a similar position can relate their experience assuming that the details on the form are accepted, how long before HMRC pay out?

Thanks.

It has been my experience (for claims of a few hundred pounds for the previous tax year) refunds have been issued within 4 weeks.

    I posted mine on 1st June '15.

My husband and my son had tax rebates from over paid paye.
Mine is related to interest on savings so probably needs a bit more attention.
It does seem like a long time though.

Mine usually arrives within 3-6 weeks.

I rung HMRC in June asking them about tax I had paid on savings. They said I could do it on the phone but I didn't have all the tax deduction certificates to hand. Rang them today and they had already processedmy request on l5th July. Their numbers didn't quite match mind so another cheque being put in the post. Much easier than completing the R40.

Just had my refund after about an 8 week wait since I sent in the R40 for 2014/2015.

I did ring HMRC about 6 weeks in to check if they had got the form. They couldn't access the form I had sent in but it was clear they had received it. They were pretty helpful and took my R40 figures again over the phone and the refund came in two weeks later.

Unfortunately HMRC have now decided that the savings income I received gross last year (because I had R85s registered) would be paid gross this year, but because I'm going to be a taxpayer this year, I don't have R85s registered this year and this isn't correct.

So until I can get them to correct my tax code for this they are effectively going to take back the refund they've just given me :rotfl:
    I came, I saw, I melted

HMRC do have a habit of assuming your income for the next year will be the same as last year. Always quite annoying!

My R40 hasn't been dealt with as yet, but I haven't had mine in for 6 weeks yet.

Posted form on 4th May and refund received 7th July.

Was going to contact them after six weeks but heard they had a huge backlog of paper correspondence to deal with so didn't bother.

On what would you prefer HMRC to base their estimate?
