Balance Transfer

Is it possible for me to transfer the balance from my wife's credit card to mine for me to pay off?

Depends on the card provider. Some will allow it, some won't.

  • Thanks - do you know if HSBC or their associated banks (First Direct etc) allow it?

generally it is fine if you do it online as you are just asked for the account number. Sometimes on the phone you are asked that it is in your name as well.

Sorry, never done a balance transfer with FD card and don't hold a HSBC cc.

Why don't you list what card is yours and then your wife's credit card you are wanting to transfer the balance from and perhaps someone else can help you.

I'd have thought it possible to balance transfer from your wife's Capital One card onto your First Direct card as the companies are completely separate to one another.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

The quickest way to find out for certain is to give FD a ring and ask them, they usually answer after 3-4 rings in my experience.
