Can anyone offer any advice on the above?
As in how to get decent ferry deals, as I've looked at a ferry crossing for £500!!

It is expensive.
Do you have specific dates, specific ports you're looking at? Normal car or campervan or trailer?
If you're camping, could you park up in England, go as foot passengers and get a taxi at the other end?0 -

The problem is there is no choice of ferry company or port, its Condor from Poole for fast ferries or Portsmouth which takes the entire day or nothing. It is now far too late to get cheap deals, they are slightly cheaper in the middle of the week than at the weekend, but minimum £450 and that is for a ferry leaving Portsmouth at 0900 and arriving in Jersey at 1900. This is not a luxurious ferry at all, it is actually very basic, the fast ferry is around £50 more from Poole but least it is twice as fast0
