Cheap camera for 2 week holiday?
Comments
-
The Mai,being short of real news, published the story of a honeymooner who bought a £40 (half price) camera from Argos. Her photos were nearly all out of focus.
A cheap item is not cheap, but a complete waste of money, if you buy something which is poor quality.0 -
Why not just use the camera and buy a lightning to usb cable and a 8gb or 16gb pen drive. That way can still use the cable and pen drive after the holiday
Lightning to USB cable = the supplied charging/sync lead (?)
I think OP would have to transfer photos to pc/laptop first before they could be transferred to pen drive, afaik you can't transfer directlyEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
we recently took a £6.99 disposable on hol the price inc developing, the pics were good enough, also took a £20(argos)digital which was also adequate0

Your best 'bargain' will be had going to somewhere like CEX and buying a Canon/Nikon/Sony/Panasonic entry level camera. Personally I'd avoid brands like Fuji, Vivitar, Polaroid and Samsung.
You could get a cheap Nikon like this: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3602429.htm
This takes AA batteries, which could be useful for a long camping trip.
Remember to buy an SD card, and maybe a case. It's a lot cheaper buying these online than in a shop; but buy a decent brand or you might end up with a fake
BUT.. Second hand will always be cheaper0 -

What have you got against these brands?0 -
I've owned a cheap Fuji and Samsung - both slow, painful to use with poor picture quality. Absolute wastes of money. Even a £150 Samsung was dreadful in comparison to the Panasonics I've owned. I've never had any problem with a Canon or Panny.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »Until you want to upload the pictures.

Vivitar is a supermarket brand, it's the cheapest of the cheap. Polaroid only exists as a 'brand' now, it has nothing to do with the old Polaroid cameras. It is not the same company with a history of photography making these.
I did say 'personally' though. If the OP wants to mainly take scenery photos then the best investment they could make is a tripod of some kind. Even a cheap camera will take an ok photo of a landscape in good light.
I value having a good camera myself, so wouldn't touch those cheap brands with a bargepole0 -
