Does a phone upgrade show as a new record on my credit file?

I am in the process of buying a house, it's not ready until November, but we have our mortgage offer and I am nervous about upgrading my phone if it'll effect my credit file...
Will it? Will it matter? The contract will be £15 more per month

Yes it will change something on your credit report. Will it matter...in my opinion not at all. These things change every month. I use my credit card on an almost daily basis. That monthly balance change every month and is reported on my credit report but doesn't affect future applications for credit.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

But it may well be a new credit search and a new credit account on your file. My device plan shows as a loan on mine. I'm not sure you want to be having a new loan on your file when you're in the middle of getting a mortgage. Why not just wait until it's all settled, just to be on the safe side.0

From experience the account will remain the same so the payment history will continue from day dot. The only thing that may happen is a credit search may be undertaken. This was my experience with both Orange/EE and Vodafone.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

My last upgrade, switching from Tmobile to EE (same company ) resulted in a new account on my credit file & the old one showing as settled. There was no credit search done. So if you are upgrading from Tmobile or Orange it will probably show the same.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

I have just done the same thing and upgraded with Vodafone but there was no credit check on me and nothing changed on my file just the balance each month changes...0

Surely if you're upgrading within the same company, there's no reason for them to run a credit check on you. And if they do, it should be listed somewhere in the small print. I believe they're not allowed to run a credit check without your permission.0

It's very clear in the small print a credit check will take place.
From my own experiences they have only ever done an identity check when I've upgraded my phone with the same supplier.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

They can. Once you sign up with them you've given them permission to carry out credit checks on a continuing basis. In fact, you don't even need to give your permission. Companies can carry out a credit check against you without your authorisation, even if you have no agreement with them.0 -
I'm with Vodafone and I've just checked my report; I upgraded last September and no credit/identity check was carried out by them at the time.
In terms of companies carrying out checks my former car insurer has looked at my files from time to time even without me quoting for prices with them. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
