Making Single Call in Portugal (Cheapest Way)
I'm visiting Portugal in a few months time and I am going to need to make a phone call whilst over there (to a landline or mobile in Portugal). Wi-Fi won't be available at the location I need to make the call.
I don't enable roaming on my mobile as I get a large number of calls and even if they divert to voicemail I believe I would still be paying to receive the calls.
What is the cheapest method of making this single call ? - Getting a free sim (that has a little credit) - if they exist, or just going ahead and enabling roaming, but then being charged for many incoming calls going to voicemail ?
Any ideas/thoughts ?
Thanks in advance

Switch voicemail off while traveling.
Roaming charges are capped by €0.19/€0.05 in EU for outgoing/incoming calls.
For £1 you can get a EE sim with £5 credit that lasts 4 weeks after activation:
EE 4G Pay As You Go Multi SIM (Standard size/micro & Nano) plus £5 credit £1.00 @ Poundland
EE 4G Pay As You Go Multi SIM (Standard size/micro & Nano) plus £5 credit 99p @ EE eBay Shop
Sainsbury's mobile charge 8p for calls. Incoming calls are free. Minimum topup is £5.0 -
Brilliant - Thanks for your reply.
That is great. Also, I wasn't aware of Sainsbury's Mobile offering free incoming calls whilst roaming.0 -
It's in some countries only, not 'whilst roaming' in general.0

It is in Portugal which is what I was looking for
- Thanks.
Looks like you only need to make one call every 180 days too (in order to keep it active).0 -
Roaming in Europe, no charge for diversion to voicemail

but there is a charge to listen to ur voice mail whilst roaming,
For this reason I always switch it OFF!

If its just the one call you need to make, and not receive a call, then why not just use a payphone? that way can leave the mobile turned off..0
