Nursing in the Forces.

The NHS will be facing a nursing shortage over the next few years when the Govt policy of repatriating non-EC workers who are not earning £35,000 per annum starts to bite.
The added advantage is that your daughter wouldn't be nursing in somewhere like Afghanistan, Syria or Iraq, coming under daily attack from missiles and rockets.0 -

We have almost pulled out of Afghan, Irag and not in Syria??
When anyone thinks of the armed forces they always think of the army on the battlefield bein shot at, rockets falling etc, we have x3 armed services in the UK.Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].
[STRIKE]Save up for that rainy day[/STRIKE].
Start enjoying a stress debt free life.....now enjoying. thanks to all on MSE0 -

Hi OldMotherTucker,
A friend of mine left the NHS as a nurse to go and work for the MOD. The change in systems, clients, structure were the main motivation (This friend had been a NHS staff member for a number of years) and they love their new role.
I wonder if it might be possible for your daughter to join university on an NHS course (with a bursary), then join the services when she is old enough? I believe another friend joined the university army cadets during her nursing degree too?
Might be an option0 -

It's a great career for the right person but if I'm perfectly honest, Katie is a very young 17 year old if you get me. It's worth looking into!0 -
I was a very young 16 when I joined up - it makes you grow up. Never regretted it. I didn't travel much but in my 23 yrs but saw USA, Canada, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Italy, Sardinia, Holland, Belgium, Germany & Denmark - many of them several times and often in tourist resorts getting paid extra !
It won't be like being in the "real" army for the first 3 years anyway (apart from basic training and I assume the odd bit of shouting, marching & fitness), probably a bit more like being in the reserves.0 -
To the op. Are there any local Ramc ta units near you? Many have open nights or other opportunities to go along and see what they do. Maybe your daughter could get an insight into the quaranc that way.0

I am a former QA, and would highly recommend the career choice. I studied at UCE (15 yers ago) so I may not be up on the current training and options. However, I am still in touch with a few QA's who are involved in career development side of it. PM if you fancy and I'll pass on your details.0
