Flight compensation if you change flight?

Evening all!
Not sure if anyone can help me with this query.
I was due to fly from Heathrow to Dublin on 22/11/14 at 0650hrs. I turned up with plenty of time then sat in the airport for hours whilst my flight was delayed. Eventually (at around 1045hrs) I managed to negotiate with the desk clerk to allow me on to the 11am flight - I tried a couple of times before but was sent away. Alternative flight finally left at 1100hrs (approx) meaning I arrived at my destination 4hrs late, albeit on an alternative flight. I believe the original flight I was booked on at 0650 finally left at around 1500hrs.
My question: am I entitled to comp despite moving flights? My grounds for claim would be that I arrived at my destination more than 3 hours late.
No reason for the delay btw, but another passenger said the 0650 rarely leaves as it's always empty...
Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can offer.
