Myhermes compensation limit decreasing

I pack to the Nth degree so rarely get breakages but on the odd occasion they have broken something I have nagged them to pay up as I could provide a photo of the inside of the box before I sealed it. They agreed that it must have been very badly treated to have broken and paid up. I had a similar success with Interparcel when UPS broke something that was covered on their site but on IP's massive exclusion list. As it seems they do this simply to avoid the paperwork and not because of UPS's own restrictions I got them to pay up to on production of a photo showing the ample bubble wrap and infill used. If nobody will take responsibility for their own actions online selling will eventually be killed off as nobody will be able to post anything safe in the knowledge that it is insured.0

Hermes are useless anyway.
The only good bit is the website, the drivers just seem to leave parcels by the side of the road, and when you try to claim you get nothing back."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I'm only speaking for myself, whether it's tracking from Hermes or signed for from royal mail they are both sufficient in stopping me from getting burned with Paypal claims.
But that's not what we're talking about, it's the fact that this new compensation change will mean I either have to take the hit and pay an extra £2.20 per package or take the hit on what compensation I get when they lose or damage a parcel at least once a week.
I would much rather they up'd the price a bit and I keep getting the £50 compensation cover as standard.0 -
I was sent something I bought on ebay via Hermes earlier this year. It never turned up. When I tried to claim from ebay I was told I could not as Hermes recorded it as having been pushed through my letter box. Two problems with that. The first is that I was actually working directly above my front door at the time. The second is that the item was too large to fit through the door.
Hermes was the god of thieves apparently - so the name is appropriate.0 -
I think it depends on the area, I use MyHermes without any issues both as a seller and a buyer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. P2G now seem to have no compensation on any of their services?
Not sure where they stand legally on that one?"Love you Dave Brooker! x"

That said I'm pretty sure it would depend on the circumstances as to whether they paid up or not.
A while back I used a courier (not through P2G) and the driver admitted to throwing the parcel over a fence and leaving it. Goods were damaged, when I put a claim in they said the goods weren't covered. When I pointed out that they were negligent and covered or not was irrelevant they paid up.
If any of these companies get customers losing parcels and not paying up for their own negligence then they haven't got a business.
The trouble is the parcel companies are racing to the bottom faster than anyone. If I was getting paid 50p to deliver a parcel down a two mile dirt track I'd be throwing it over a fence too.
How many times a week do we see on here someone asking for the "cheapest" way to deliver a parcel? It's never the most cost effective..0 -
This is the thing, if they lose it they're negligent and if they damage it they're negligent and would have to cough up anyway."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Most of mine are over £25 so back to Royal Mail for me.
No printing labels and no losing a day waiting for them to collect.
An increase from £2.78 to £4.98 is frankly ridiculous. One extreme to the other.
Why not a midway compensation point of £50 for say £1.10 (like signed for)?
I dont need £100 and i wont pay for it.0
