Hi
I'm after some advice.
I checked my file this morning and there was a Default from Southern Water on their!
Now I got a years bill that's split in two payments, due April and October. Left it a little late and they then wanted both payments up front. However I paid the first bill and they said "no worries pay the rest again in October" then got some threatening letters over the past couple of months so phoned them and the recoded are conversations and put notes on my account to say "ignore letters etc"
Now I got a default this morning! so phoned them paid what's owed straight away and there looking into a appeal for me.......
Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks

Also just looked on my report and the default amount is exactly the same amount as my bill. So my notes on my account about my previous calls should validate the default being removed right?0

If you feel the information has been recorded incorrectly or unfairly by your lender regarding the default appearing on your credit report, you may want to speak to your CRA (Credit Reference Agency) to query this directly with the lender in question.
Defaulted account will remain on your credit report for six years from the defaulted date, whether or not the balance has been settled or not.
I hope this helps

Hi
Thanks for you're reply.
Yeah I have contacted you guys and you are also looking into it and contacting Southern Water too.
Southern Water need to approve it being removed before the CRA can actually remove it from my file.
Just hope they see my account history and all my phone calls and notes etc about the bill and agree to remove it.

So Southern Water are refusing to take down the default, even know they advised me on two occasions to ignore any final demand letters.
Any advice on where to go now would be great!

Just a bit of standard advice when dealing with water companies:
Never provide them with information that allows them to identify you. So no previous address, DoB, full name etc. When taking over a supply just let them know you as "The Occupier" or just your surname. No title or initials. Pay them by standing order.
By doing this you minimise the chances of them shafting you for obtaining credit.0
