EzeeDSL hell still- Please help!!

Hi,
We have been with EzeeDSL for over a year (July 06). Since Jan 07 I have been trying to go with a different ISP. I actually had a legitimate reason for not staying with them for the 12 months, which took nearly 3 months for them to acknowledge. The reason was that their homepage corrupted my internet and although according to them I was online all I could get was their homepage for over a week!
I was told all I had to do was pay the month off that I owed and then I could leave- simple!!
Not so. Since then I have not been able to get hold of them. I now understand this may be because they are owned by a different company!
The problems:
1) As I cannot get hold of anything bar the automated response I cannot sort this out.
2)They have my debit card details that they draw from every month- like I was making a payment in a shop. My bank "Halifax" say the only way I can stop them from drawing the money is to change my account, but that this could build up a debt!. This is my main account and it has all my DD (15) coming from that across the month.
