Have you also obtained copies of her credit file from Equifax and CallCredit (Noddle) too?

If the DCA managed to track your wife down to your current address, a link has been made somewhere in your wife's credit files so she needs to find out what.

Also, what mortgage company are you applying with?

Without wishing to take the side of the credit card firm - please remember that people often try all sorts of tricks to hide from their debts. In a case like this it is quite reasonable to make the assumption that your wife opened the accounts and then didn't pay. Now, as they are not her cards your wife is not liable of them, and the principal victim is the card company. HOWEVER, if your wife just turns around say say 'nothing to do with me' they probably will not believe her - I certainly wouldn't. I think it is important that your wife make her position clear and provide the card company with any help they ask for. Should the matter end up in the county court there will be an expectation that your wife has acted reasonably in the whole affair when a decision is made as to who is liable. Trying to say the card firm is liable for not catching up with the matter sooner is a weak argument I'm afraid.

And yes, she will have to refer the matter to the police - she is a victim too and I think the credit card firm will expect it.
