Earlier today my laptop running Win 7 came up with a message in firefox saying "Refresh firefox" I clicked on it and now it has lost my homepage and bookmarks.
How can I restore what I had before and why is it asking to refresh all the time.
Is firefox really this unstable?

Update maybe, not refresh?
Home page isn't a problem. Bookmarks are - if you really lost them. What is it exactly that you have lost?0 -
Would a System restore get them back for you?:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

The 'reset Firefox' option normally puts a folder on the desktop called 'Old Firefox data', which contains your old bookmarks. Have a look if it's there. If it's not, search your computer for a folder by that name.0

Backing up and restoring your profile: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20your%20information
This folder ('Profiles') contains your bookmarks as well. If you locate it an back up, I think you can uninstall FF and then install it again. Then you can replace the folder like it is explained in the above link.0 -
There is an option in Firefox to restore bookmarks to any date over the last few weeks. If you click on the Show Your Bookmarks icon, followed by Show All Bookmarks, then select Import and Backup, and then finally Restore. Hope it works for you.0

My understanding of the OP's evasive replies is that FF doesn't start.0
