My Journey To My Pot Of Gold

Hello lovely Sam. Too young is 29 to my 45!!!!
I fear I'll always be useless at lunches although I guess practice makes perfect. Just got to keep a focus on it. MTxx0 -
I am really enjoying my week off. I've had work done inside my house and I'm feeling quite good about the last 2 workmen. I've hopefully had some rare experiences in the past or maybe using a trade site with reviews is the answer for me. Both have been incredibly respectful and hard working. Maybe there is hope!!!!
My trainee did his first solo show this week which went really well. I get so excited when they progress to taking over a whole show. Unfortunately he's away for the next few weeks which means I can't sign him off just yet. He will need one or two more mentoring shows once he's back. In the meantime I have another new trainee who is very keen and has taken a media class. So I'll be looking very amateur to him I expect.
Financially I'm all over the place. I've decided to start a new YNAB for my full time salary. I want it separate to the part time file. I then decided to have a splurge and do a catch up on neglected areas plus I wanted to treat a few people for my increased salary celebration and thanks. I decided to give myself permission to do that and I'll set my new YNAB file up from 1 August.
On the not so good news, I popped to the Dr on Monday as I've been having some niggles I thought I should fix before I lose my spare days. The Dr sent me for a blood test and they called me in this morning. A few issues there so I've got to have more tests and scans done asap to determine what's going on. I've decided that until we know what's going on I'm not going to worry. To be honest the only reason I feel concern is because of them rushing the tests through. Although if it were that bad they'd admit me today, wouldn't they? So that's just a Watch This Space in my mind for now.
i have 2 viewings of my house this weekend so I need to get my act in gear as soon as this workman leaves. My house is definitely looking more homely now though. A huge yay to that!
Have a fantastic Thursday everyone.

Hmmm, not so sure, isn't that the gap with Emma Thompson and Greg Wise? He's almost 30 so he isn't exactly a baby...
I found the transition from part time to full time a bit of a shock to the system so be kind to yourself
I hope the GP issues resolve positively soon

I'm glad you decided to have a celebration with the new salary - hopefully it will help the extra days feel worthwhile!
Also hoping your tests come back all well.

Hi MT
Just wanted to quickly pop in and let you know I'm back. I haven't updated my diary yet but I will over the weekend. What you said on my diary was so true. There have been many dark days but after having a few days holiday and time to think, I have realised that I am accountable for my own life and it is me that needs to sort it out. I have been feeling much more positive this week.
I didn't realise (I don't think) that we are the same age. My finances are in a big mess at the moment and I think I will go back to YNAB. I never really got the hang of it but I am going to crack it this time.
Also, had a change of job. Landed my dream job accidentally. I will post more on my diary.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for still popping in on my diary even though I was MIA and a truly appreciate that.
I am going to need one massive kick up the backside with my finances lol.
Well done on the new work hours and deciding to sell up. And I hope its all good news from the docs.
Take care.

Hello there, my goodness I disappear for a short time and loads has been happening! Enjoy the flirtations, not such a big gap I would say if you decided to take it further, and if not, ego boosts are always appreciated and no one gets hurt! Your house sounds like it is coming along great, best of luck with the viewings this weekend! Hopefully your doctor is just being thorough and all is well with your health, perhaps take it easy before full time!

Hello Tink,
We're all so pleased to see you back. I'm really looking forward to catching up with your diary once you've posted.
Are we really the same age? Isn't it a great age to be?Fantastic news on landing your dream job. Is it an accident or is it the Universe giving what you deserve?
I think the lovely thing about our diaries is that people don't give us kicks, we get hand holding and encouragement, and you'll definitely get that.
YNAB is worth, in my opinion, sticking with. If it goes wrong and you need to start again then do that. It took me a little while to get it working to how it should while also fitting in with how my head works. I'd had so many different accounts for different things and gradually, over time, I've moved my thought process around to fit. But it took me quite a few goes at it before I found where I was really comfortable. I enjoyed that process.
I'm so excited to hear your updates. Take care.

Thank you Rosa. I've made solid decisions now, which I'll update later, but in the meantime I think some celebrations and financial catch ups are worth doing to get me in a better place now that I'm full time.

Hello Jodles. Lovely to see you again. Thank you for the encouragement for the youngster too!
My house does feel like it's moving forward slowly but surely. I'll pop along and see how you're getting on shortly. MTxx0 -
I'm back from my week off and straight into full time work again!!! Eek! I did wake up this morning thinking "what on earth were you thinking....!!!" Let's see how it goes.
My house is really starting to feel like it's taking shape. The viewing at the weekend left very constructive and nicely worded feedback that my house is still in need of some TLC which is making it harder to choose based on what else is around for the same money. Someone needs to bring Shabby Chic back in fashion!!!!So, this week I'm going to have a good hunt through sites like Rightmove and Zoopla to find what people can get for the same amount as I'm asking within a 5 mile radius. From there I'll make a decision to either drop the price, or to spend a bit more and get the house decorated. I've got an idea on prices for work now, so I'll know quite easily which is the best option to take.
I did a radio show on Friday with the youngster which was his last for a while as he's away throughout August. He has chosen Tuesday evenings for his show, and the other presenters on Tuesdays (2 lads who muck about and literally put our licence in jeapordy) have started making noises about changing their slots during August so it'll be harder for him to come back and take the evening show again. So, we agreed that I'll take that slot to hold it for him for his return. It's fine as my day finishes much earlier now at work and I currently have 3 trainees so I can use it as a training show.
During the show on friday I think I kept subconsciously making him aware of the age gap between us, but he still doesn't seem phased. So maybe the problem is only with me??? I'm still feeling a bit sore from the last experienceso I know I don't want to get involved with anyone, but he doesn't want anything heavy either! I guess I have August to figure things out. In the meantime, I need this health thing sorted before I can really consider getting closer to anyone.
I think I'll write another post with financial updates.
