If you have no job to pay the money back then you should not really be applying for another card? How would you plan to pay it when back in the UK? If you would get a job you may be better off trying to borrow the airfare from family and then pay them back.

You could ask the British Counsel for help as suggested above but please remember that they are not obliged to fly you home or lend you any money to do so.

I've been living in asia for a few years but finally maxed out my credit card I can no longer pay the direct debit to that bank every month
So I should call the bank to see what they say.
I need to cancel the direct debit before it is due again because my overdraft wont cover it

Is there some thing I should know before I call the bank?
    What may they suggest?
They'll probably say "Oh it's you again Mr Tsipras, we may be able to help you out here but you're really on a dog's chance this time...." ;)

Nothing in my post could be taken as applying only to a particular part of Asia, so I'm not sure what the point of this comment is.

Quite correct. My comment about not knowing where the OP was talking about was meant more as a condition to my remark that an option of working back in the UK and "wintering" in Asia might be viable. As you say the thread has moved on. Certainly I've met guys in Thailand who love the place but work in the UK and just have long periods there.
