moving home. Cancel internet or leave it?

HI. I am moving out of my home on Saturday and new people are moving in the same day. I have bt line rental, no contract, and plusnet broadband, no contract. Plusnet want £35 to disconnect and 14 days notice. Well, Ive only got two days. Im moving in with my partner so I dont need to transfer anything, just end my subscriptions. Now that MAC keys are no longer required to change internet providers, do you think it would be easier just to leave the internet live, let the new owners activate their preferred supplier which in theory would then terminate my account or will this cause an issue? Also, would this work if I have already closed my bt account? If I go ahead and pay the disconnection fee, will the new people have to pay a reconnection fee and will the fact that there will still be 12 or so days left of my notice cause a problem for them signing up to something new?
Thank you for any advice on this.

You do have a contract on both services, you are merely out of minimum term. You need to give notice on both accounts, and get them terminated on the move date, or as soon after as possible. Unless you want the incoming occupiers to be running up potentially huge bills on your account...
Cancelling your DD does not constitute giving notice: and you will be billed the cease charge regardless-that applies to any broadband cancellation. Once the landline is disconnected by BT you will lose your broadband service too.
Failure to terminate the account properly will leave a tag on the line, which will cause 3/4 weeks delay to the incoming occupants taking over the line while the supplier attempts to contact you to confirm your departure.
Presumably you are not moving out at just two days notice, so you've left it much too late.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks Macman.
I rang bt and cancelled my account with them. No problem. Rang plusnet, they told me because my line was deactivated by bt they had ceased my broadband account, no charge, no 14 days notice, no impact on next occupiers. Job done.0
