Can anyone suggest a reputable PPI reclaim firm?
I'm aware a lot of people say never use any of the firms and do it yourself but for me this would be difficult.
In my early 20's I was a single father of two kids, struggling on a below minimum wage job. I got myself into a lot of debt and had multiple bank accounts and credit cards.
I feel at best I was treated unfairly by several of the banks, some were charging me more in bank charges for missed direct debits than I earned each week meaning I could never pay any of my bills and the charges kept adding up.
At this point in my life I had a break down and so I remember very few details of which banks were charging me what or even which banks I used and I have no documentation. The only information I know for certain is the approximate years and address.
I think the chances of one my banks charging me PPI on at least one of my credit cards without me being fully aware is pretty high but I have know prof.
I have been told there are firms that can find out with the minimum information and any money I could reclaim even with a commission taken off would really help my family right now.

The firms can't find out any more than you. They will ask you for the lenders names and then write them a letter, charging you several hundred for the stamp.0

There are no reputable PPI firms.
You can do it yourself.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
If you want to use a company then follow Martins guide on the site and just remember to follow the rules of not paying any money up front and a fee of 10%. There are currently over 900 companies out there to choose from.0

Blimey, if there is over 900 then that means more have been struck off than are open for business. As of April 2014, the MoJ had shut down more than 1100 and were closing them at a rate of 200 a year.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I don't think any of them are particularly "reputable". They are charging money (and often a lot of it) for something that you can do yourself easily, for free.
Excellent advice on this website. I used it and was successful in all of my claims. Good luck!0 -
I have confused myself doing my own PPI complaints but I think that is more because I have numerous with my bank
I know that these companies only fill the forms in using information you give them so you may as well do it yourself. It is easy to fill the forms in using the guides on here too and also asking questions as there are a lot of very nice helpful people on here who will guide you too. If you are unsure of something just put you don't know or can't remember. THe first thing you need to do if you don't have any paperwork is to send off a Subject Access Request (SAR) to your banks to see what information they have that you can use.
Please remember that these companies only use the information you give them to put a complaint in on your behalf and then take a stupid amount to do that for you. I know I'd rather do this myself so any refund is back in my bank for my family and me not those awful companies.0 -
My cousin went to a CMC in April this year with his PPI complaint. This firm advertises on TV. They hadn't sent a response by July and when he phoned for an update they said they were still waiting to hear from the bank.
I hope you will let the many good people and financial experts on this forum help you (and your family) with any PPI complaints. Best of luck.0 -

You want to claim money (even though you don't know if you even paid any PPI) but don't want to put any effort into doing the claim yourself? Is that right?
For what reason would any PPI have been unfair in your case?0 -
Interested in this thread as we moved to Melbourne 7 years ago and believe we have a claim on a mortgage from early 1990's. We completed the template letters enclosed here (thanks very much) and also completed the banks PPI claims forms to be told "unable to find any accounts in your names, so cancelling claim". What are our next steps? Being in Melbourne makes communication difficult and we're considering using a recovery form.0

Why do you think a firm will be able to make PPI suddenly appear if the bank can't find any?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
