Euro Car Parks fine

Hi all,
Let me apologise for this post which is probably the millionth time that someone has asked for advice on their parking ticket. I have searched the forum and the main MSE site and can't find a similar case to mine.
I parked in a Euro Car Park for the whole day using the PayByPhone app which cost me £4.40. I was on auto pilot on my way to work and forgot that I'd had a new car since the last time I used their car park so the app was registered to my old car (which is now declared off the road). When I got back to my car I had a PCN on my windscreen informing me of my £60 'fine'.
My question is: should I contact them and explain I made a mistake but have actually paid for parking that day (albeit on another car) or am I dropping myself in it by doing that?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated, thanks in advance.

Loads of cases similar to yours. Read the Newbies thread and do as it says. It's not a fine.Je suis Charlie.0

you dont need a similar one
you appeal it according to the timeline and template in the NEWBIES sticky thread
you also add that the full ticket charge was paid by THE DRIVER but an incorrect VRN was used and you add the VRN of the purchase that was made to show the ticket was paid for, a simple mistake on the part of THE DRIVER (but definitely not naming the driver) - if you ahve any receipt or statement then copy it and add it as proof
also insist the charge be dropped as full payment was made on the day
if they reject it, you submit a legal argument appeal to popla (who wont care that mistakes were made or tickets were purchased)
ps:- its also the millionth time the word "fine" was used, except no private company can "fine" you, its a speculative INVOICE0
