T-Mobile to go(US sim card)
Anybody familiar with these??
Bought one new off ebay to use when i get to the states, My current phone takes my UK Tmobile sim, and im currently looking(well needing) for a new one, and that should take the UK one, and therefore American one.
Anyway, firstly, theirs no difference in terms of "locking" between the UK & US payg US sims??
& Secondaly, i have been given a NY number with my Tmobile sim.....how do i change this to a local(California) number when i get over to the States???
Thanks

Hi, I've changed my inbound area code easily for At&T,though not Tmobile -sorry not alot of use for you.Had a look around the US tmobile website, but didn't see info. easily.
They show a customer support no of 1 877 387 4324, which would be, for example, 0.5p per minute, if calling via 18185.com's UK landline call service.Could be worth calling before you get there.

Just seen this on another website:
'...where T-Mobile offers service by calling 611 from your phone or 1 800 866 2453 before leaving home. They will ask you for the current phone number, which is provided with your SIM starter kit. You can also change the phone number at T-Mobile retail stores.' Taken from http://www.travelgear.com.au/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=T&Product_Code=TMOBILE30&Category_Code=SIM
I've edited the contact no. shown above, you'll need to add the international access code etc. to the number. (Assuming that no. is still valid)
Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob0 -
Bit of a late reply....
If you have a U.K T-Mobile handset, the US T-Mobile Sim will work, and vice versa. I bought a Samsung T219 in NYC for $50 and it works fine back here with my UK Sim.
Anyway.
You cannot change ur sim's phone number I'm afraid. You will have to buy another t-mobile sim card and register it to a Zip Code in California. However, having a NYC number makes no difference in PRICE than having a California Area code, because, T-Mobile to go works on the same rate across the states (local and domestic).
Hope its working fine for you0 -

bit of an inaccurate reply you mean ...
You can't assume that a phone will work with both networks; they count as totally separate and the phone may need to be unlocked. In addition, the USA uses different frequency bands of 850 and 1900 MHz rather than our 900 and 1800 so only tri- and quad-band phones will work in both places
And the previous information that the number can be changed by contacting T-mobile customer services is correct and can be read in plenty of other places.
And there are indeed considerations about the number area code - whilst the rate for outgoing calls from the SIM may be the same countrywide, people wanting to make calls to the OP from their landlines will be pleased to see a local number as it will be free to call for most of them.0
