Hi and very many thanks in advance.
We are off on a family holiday in a couple of weeks to Hisonaru in Turkey.
Has any one been to this resort recently and if so what is the best way of taking holiday spending money there?
We haven't been to Turkey before and I am not sure if we would get a better deal getting lira here before we go and taking it all with us, taking Stirling and changing it there, taking euros - I guess they may take euros any way? Getting a preloaded card or indeed getting cash from cashpoints using my UK debit card?
Any one who has been to this resort this year and could help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Change a few quid before you go.
Then change sterling into TL while you're there.
Absolutely no need for €uros.
If you take plastic make sure you tell your bank that you're going abroad.
Hisaronu is in a lovely spot up quite high up in the pine forests, although the resort area looks like it's been dropped in from Tackyland. You'll have to go down the hill to Olu Deniz for the beach.
Here's a link to the Trip Advisor discussion forum for Hisaronu, which'll answer stuff you've not even thought of...

Make sure you have a trip by dolmus [shared mini-bus] down to Fethiye. It's a lovely town with a great marina and loads of restaurants.0 -
Hi Pete, very many thanks for the very fast reply. These forums are really great - I would never have found someone as knowledgeable as you without them!
As you suggest, I will get some TL here, then take sterling with us - and change at the resort. Are there lots of places that will change sterling and in your experience are any better than others?
We shall make sure we go to Fethiye and the hotel we are at runs free shuttles to olu deniz and the kids already have that planned!
Many thanks again,

Loads off places to change money up in hisaronu...
The best place is actually a bag shop called wags bags it's 4tl to the pound over there at the moment.
Count your money before you leave the shop......
A few things I suggest you do out there
Monday hisaronu market loads off genuine fakes lol
Tuesday fethiye market
And a 6 island boat trip.....0 -

100%. Once the money has left the seller's hand don't let him touch it again until you've checked it in front of him.0 -

Why do people still bother changing cash in this day and age? Get a Halifax Clarity card, withdraw cash from an ATM. Job done, best possible exchange rate, no worries about being short changed. OK, ATMs do occasionally have issues but I've used them in many countries around the world over the last 20 years and have never had a major problem.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -

Hi all, sorry for the late reply, been working all day today!
Many thanks for all the great advice.
We are going all inclusive - so I think we will take a mixture of both currencies - but the advice of the credit card has been taken on-board - may be if there is a next time!
The markets sound great and we are suckers for boat trips.
Have a great weekend all,
