Wow Ally that all sounds very trying indeed!!
I'm ok now, thanks. But I just dropped a can of condensed milk and it burst open so I guess that's my three bits of bad luck for the day. It can only get better now. :rotfl:As I dropped it on a clean-ish surface I'm gonna use the milk anyway, and there's no point "crying over spilt milk".Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Oh for heavens sake! Although at the risk of sounding like if you have an elephant I have a box to put it in, I dropped a 6 litre container of milk at work yesterday. The darned thing cracked and yes I very nearly did cry over spilled milk" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi All
Well done enjoy yourshoes. Hurrah.
I have just returned from a farmers funeral in the nicest hill churchyard in the world. The sun shone and the welsh men sang beautiful hymns. He was a lovely gentle soul who farmed his whole life joyfully.
I will really miss him, but feel if any person is on his way to heaven, this will be it.
Back in work now and ready for an early night. Funerals exhaust me. All that trying not to cry. Nervous exhaustion all round.
Has been a lunch out day, so not a NSD.
DD has passed her exams at year 2 of 5 uni course. I am so very pleased for her. She can now enjoy her summer job without being worried about needing to revise all the time. Summer has arrived for her today.
So back to work now before my long commute, *(1 mile) home.
Have a good evening everyone. Anyone interested google Llanddeusant.

Maria - Wow just googled Llanddeusant, what a stunning place. You write so beautifully about your friend. He sounds like he had a good life.
Congratulations to your daugher, that must be a huge relief as well. Hope you feel better after some rest.
Bob
Determined - Really pleased about the cheque you found!
Twiggy - Well done on getting into the £3s! Amazing progress.
Kayannie - Your breakfasts sound great. I am not really a breakfast person. But I do try. I know especially at the moment I should be eating before I go out the door, but I find if I wake up late, I just cant go straight into eating mode, you know? Sounds like you've had a good day" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Ally, sorry to hear about your car and tax woes
Maria, I find funerals very hard tooSounds like a life well lived, and a beautiful final resting place though.
DNMS, great news on the cheque
Love the sound of lavender cakeEach year I make at least one batch of Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's lavender shortbread, which is gorgeous. Not great for my diet, but I will make some with grand daughters this weekend

Forgot to flag this up - on Sunday, I popped into our local branch bof 'Savers' for my annual bottle of 'Stardrops' (89p) & found sugar on sale for 49p a bag. Bought a couple ready for chutney/jamming season. Think will pop back & see if I can get a few more bags.
Free lettuce leaves this afternoon. Went to turn an empty lettuce trough our ready for replanting & found that 4 chunky lettuce stalks had resprouted to give me a 2nd crop of nice lollo rosso leaves. Free seeds in the 1st place, so a double-freebie!
Found 3 of our cabbages had bad slug damage. Found the culprits - 1 big snail & a massive slug & despatched them as far as my arm could throw. Cut the 3 affected cabbages as growth too checked for them to catch up. Still managed to shred & blanch a 250g bag cabbage for freezer.
Found forgotten about rhubarb in fridge leftover from Tuesday's rhubarb cake. Stewed it for quick free dessert.
It's so nice to be doing stuff again now that I've seen the flu off :-)
Ally - Oh my days, that tax letter! What a mess they've made of that. Shame about the car bill. I've been caught out so many times like that. Cars are such money-pits. We now put £50 a month into our 'Car Piggy' to help offset these horrible emergencies. Before that, I'm afraid the whole lot used to go on a credit card or we'd extend a loan or overdraft.
Ok, Mr f trying to do factory reset on laptop which has developed weird problem. Knitting time for me.

Foxgloves:
Sorry about you're cabbages.
Glad you're better.
I just paid £100 off the car bill and the remaining £229 will probably be paid next Friday. So it's a short-term free borrowing. I think we are going to need a Car Savings Pot. The insurance, tax and fuel we can manage it's the repairs that get us. I did spend a year without a car once and it was successful, but just now I don't think we would have the same quality of life without it. I am contemplating getting a bicycle, though. And I did enjoy haggling £150 off at the garage!
