    Hi everyone else!

    Good day yesterday - wrote shopping list and then decided not to go until next week as we're away this weekend anyway!

    Today has started well too - checked bank and refund from OVO has gone in. So paid £150 off CC taking my debt out of the 4's and into the 3's!!!!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Pay £150 off CC
    * Take lunch to work
    * Update spreadsheet, snowball and signature
    * Update work expenses
    * Get petrol (budgeted) whilst out so car is full up and won't need to stop on route tomorrow
    * Draw money out for weekend (budgeted) to help me keep track of spends
    * Text dad to see if he has windscreen wipers for my car and if he can fit them tonight
    * Make falafel burgers before circuits so can just stick them in when back
    * Go to circuits (already paid for)
    * Grab milk as didn't go shopping
    * Hopefully go to dads to get windscreen wipers fitter
    * Dinner from stores
    * Wash hair and let dry naturally
    * Check I've got everything packed for the weekend

    Hope everyone has a great day!

    Hi Everyone

    It started out lovely & sunny here this morning but now looks more like rain, although not supposed to.

    I was asked yesterday if I could knit a 'Clanger' so downloaded a free pattern, found pink wool in my stash & made a start last night. Apparently they've made a come back.

    Will do a supermarket shop this afternoon, but don't need much as getting most of the veg from the garden now, we don't eat meat & I have lots of fish in the freezer. SM is a 20 mile round trip so incorporating it into an afternoon out to a NT property which won't cost anything as we have a season ticket.

    Bob - Thanks for the kind words yesterday, but I just can't imagine going without my huge bowl of cereal, fruit & yoghurt! (I do walk the dog a couple of miles first which gives me an appetite). But I hope you've had your brekkie today!!

    Enjoymyshoes - Congratulations on the job offer.

    Coffee time now.

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for the start Ally - good luck with the MOT :eek:
    Feeling a bit better today and have actually made some progress on my huge backlog of tasks

    So far I have:
    Cleaned bathroom thoroughly
    Stripped spare bed and washed linen
    Cleaned and added salt to the dishwasher
    Sorted out the hens

    Still to do:
    Check banks Not done
    Hoovering / dusting everywhere Did the middle floor (that isn't nearly as impressive as it sounds!)
    Wash kitchen and back porch floors Not done
    Sort out dining room table, which is covered with all kinds of stuff for some reason - and it needs a clean table cloth too! Not done
    Clean ensuite in spare bedroom Nope
    Make up spare beds for grandchildren visiting at the weekend Nor this
    Some shopping will be needed for the weekend (will do via Ocado using voucher code :)Did a shop to be dleivered tomorrow, but the voucher code had expired :mad:
    Peg washing out on line and put in another load - hopefully it won't rain, looks as though it might :(Got one load dry :T
    Wash dog's bedding Not done
    Watering in the garden unless it pours down Done back garden, front still to do
    HM meals from stores Done
    Take a larger item to sales unit to replace the one sold yesterday :)Done
    Bring back an antique side table that doesn't seem to be selling (I would just keep it if I had room, as it is pretty, but don't need more tables here :eek:). Will stick it in the garage for now,
    possibly send it to auction later. In garage
    Did a couple of surveys
    Signed up for a free trial of moisturising cream (received via email)

    Now I am sure there is more! Equally sure that it won't all get done today :o

    Still, I will do what I can.
    Congratulations on getting the job Enjoyyourshoes :T You will be next DNMS :)

    Hope you all have a good day :)

    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Just coming up for air after a manic baking and making session. Of course all the mums were in first thing. It's gone dead now I'm actually ready :)

    One of my regs brought in a big bag of herbs from her garden yesterday so I've just tried out a lavender loaf. Let's see how that works out. Smells nice.

    Husband has scanned the form in to accept the ombudsman's settlement suggestion. Now just to wait and see if the insurer accept that.

    Better go, second wave kicking off!

    Hello Frugal Friends,
    Well done, Enjoyyourshoes on the successful job interview. We always like good news on here!
    Big storms forecast here for today but it's actually very sunny & pleasant at the moment - aiming to get outside with the trusty secateurs this afternoon & do some more catching up in the garden.
    Today's oddments of money saving:
    *Jumped straight in mr f's hot bathwater when he got out - am happy to recycle bath water in the mornings for a quick dip......it's a different story when I'm treating myself to a major pampering session, lol.
    *Made a loaf in the BM, also made dough by hand for rolls, which I shall have to go & shape in a minute before it climbs out of the bowl.
    *Defrosted some of the broad bean pesto I batch-cooked last week for dinner. It's lovely with pasta & a sprinkle of cheese.
    *Cut more home grown lettuce for a salad tonight.
    *Feed veggies now that mr f has managed to prize the lid of that wretched new bottle of tomato food.
    *Did a big pile of ironing - switched iron off for the final garment.
    *Did a few surveys - not many Onepolls available these days, It's the longest it's ever taken me to get to cash-in & I'm still only at £23,
    *Plan picnic menu for Sunday when we're making use of a 'Freinds of' membership to spend the day at a lovely local garden. I love nosing at their veggies to see if they're doing any better than ours & watching the wildlife.
    *Carry on with knitting project. Only have another 24 rows to knit - but circular needles, size 9, but hugely long rows. Hope to finish today, then it has to be washed & stretched. Hope that bit goes OK, as expensive yarn (gift).
    *Carry on cutting back garden. My borders are at their prettiest in June, really, then loads of stuff needs hacking back. If I do it now, there's a good chance some plants will re-flower in August. Intend to fill gaps with new perennials I grew from free seed this Spring. Have got some special foxgloves, echinacea, hollyhocks, bronze fennel, an old-fashioned variety of yellow aquilegia & some bright red lychnis. I would estimate that's easily over £50's worth at garden centre prices.
    *Consider whether to do a mid-month budget 'check-in' tomorrow. I'm feeling a bit twitchy about this month's budget & I don't know why. Think I will go with my instinct & see how we are doing. I think the grocery budget is a little awry, so could do with looking at that too.
    OK, that's me for today.
    DNMS - How lovely to find a forgotten cheque! I get excited when I find a 20p piece in my coat
    pocket!

    Bob - I love lavender cake. I usually have a piece when we visit the Norfolk Lavender Farm. They ice it with lavender coloured icing. I tried to recreate it at home as buns, which were nice, but not as nice as the cake. I think they may make a sugary lavender syrup & pour it over the cake as there are defo bits of lavender baked into the cake, but it has a slight stickiness too. Oooh, could apply a slice to my face right now!! Shame it's such a long way to drive.

    Oh, llama drama! :mad:

    What a morning!

    :eek: First the post arrives with an envelope from our 'friends' at the Tax Credits. Last week we were reassured that the mistake they'd made had been fixed and we didn't owe the £600+ they had wrongly demanded from us. However, the money they promised us didn't arrive and we waited patiently. Today we receive a letter
    saying that we owe £920! My OH opened the letter in my absence and nearly needed to be resuscitated. (I'm exaggerating, she wasn't quite that bad.) I call HMRC and after an hour of listening to a truly random piece of classical music on hold to three different departments they reassure me that this is an error and that we'll be a paid tomorrow. However, the one weekly £45 payment we're missing won't be coming. They'll pay us £46 a week, every week, instead. This means we'll have £45 less this month than we should have. I protested about this but got nowhere. We're both over the shock now and just about laughing about it.

    :eek: Then I took the car in for an MOT. Car failed on six different points! (Though they didn't notice that the windscreen wiper needs replacing; I'll do that myself next week.) At this point I nearly needed first aid. :p Mechanic announces that these repairs will cost £500. However, I noticed that the brakes had failed and this garage fixed aforementioned brakes back in October, so they are going to pay for their replacement. Then I negotiated half price parts on my suspension and a 20% discount on top of all that. Final bill will be £329 which is less faint-worthy. :T

    We are going to use the 0% credit card to pay off half the bill when I collect the car later, however, this will be paid off in full next week when I get my third weekly wage of the month. Then the credit card will be put away again. We have decided we will only use it for short term borrowing. Probably need to start saving for future car repairs, though, so we don't have to use the credit card in future.

    And pause again. Well. The lemon drizzle has 1 slice left again. And have sold half the lavender. Had good feedback from those that tried it. I just did mine with little lavender baked into the loaf then slightly more in the icing. There is a lovely lavender fields in Surrey too called Mayfield's. Near Coulsdon South. Lovely place.

    Having a late lunch now.
