Compensation for nasty seating arrangements?

Hi,
We recently flew back from the states and to cut a long story short, someone had vomited in the seat on the previous flight. The crew had cleaned it up, but it still stank and the floor was sopping wet under our seats. The flight was full so we couldn't move, and a steward eventually covered it up with a blanket and gave us some air freshener.
I complained to BA, I wasn't looking for free flights or a refund, but a gesture would have been nice, however the reply was really dismissive. Should I take it further? Is it worth the trouble?
Thanks for any advice.
