Highest credit limits

Options
I have just applied for the following cards:

Virgin (0% for 15 months)
Halifax One

I'd be interested to hear what credit limits people have achieved for these and indeed any other cards...I'm looking for high limits ie 5k upwards.

Can anyone help?

As mentioned before the limit you will get generally depends on other factors such as employment status, annual income, married or single, property ownership/location,outstanding debts etc.
MBNA generally give decent limits for 0% periods of about £6-£7000.
Most companies increase the limits once the 0% periods end.
You may have to apply for two cards to reach your required limit.

It's impossible to say whether one card would give you a higher limit over another as what works for one person may not necessarily work for another as there are far two many individual factors (like as mentioned above) built into the equation.

I've had cards ranging with limits ranging from £1500 - £24K. There is NO pattern towards it as companies can move the goalposts (criteria) at any time they wish.

As a rule of thumb. The higher the total credit limit you have (spread over all cards) the greater the chances of receiving a smaller limit on the next application you make as lenders can see exactly what outstanding debt you already have as well as what available credit you have access to. Obviously, there can be exceptions to this with very high wage earners.

I have 3 credit cards with £15k, £18k and £30k limits. The £30k card provider kept on increasing my limit before the CCA 2006 came into force which meant that I would have lost protection under the Consumer Credit Act.

Conversely my favourite card is my Barclaycard which only has a £500 limit. I use this card for online shopping, car hire and any companies that I feel dodgy shopping with (such as restaurants who take your card away). I have to tell Barclaycard constantly not to increase the limit on this card.
