I can see where you are coming from, but have nothing to do with Setanta.

I myself have worked in several customer services positions for 2 different companies. There are times when demand is so high that you are flooded with calls, emails, letters etc. Just give them a bit of time to get round to replying to your emails and letters etc.

Just to balance your view I to am a new customer only in my first month and already having problems they have simply overcharged me on my first DD by £19.99 this after only 10 days my attempts to recover this money have proved unsucsessful with operators telling me they have no authority to refund and fobbing me off with a mail adress to write to needless to say my letters have been ignored and I still await the refund, I found the operators at best to be disinterested giving me the impression they are listening to the same complaints from customers over and over again then playing their get out of jail card by telling customers to write in so you have been fortunate the rest of us have not cheers

We have also had problems with Setanta, paid nearly a month ago, No card arrived after 10 days, so rang after about 15 calls eventually got through. Told sent 5 days earlier and to ring back in 2 days if did not arrive . So waited still no card.
Rang again took took 4 days to get through and I dont know how many calls always said to busy call back later, eventually got through Sat 11th, promised another card which would be sent via Special Delivery and would have by Mon 13th Aug. No Card on Monday, so when still no Card rang Tuesday 14th.
This time told had been sent but on by 1st class post & should arrive next day(Wed 15th) . Wed 15th still no card so waited till today Thurs 16th still no card.
Rang again this morning, this time told card had been sent but had no record of when, said they would send a 3rd card 1st class post and should be here by Sat 18th or Mon 20th Aug. Asked how sent (if they do actually send them at all) by 1st class post in Setanta logo envelope. I pointed out that this could easily be stolen by Postal workers and should be sent recorded delivery etc.
Everytime I have spoken to them have asked for a Supervisor never one available, have been promised this month free and next month, but I've already missed most of this month. When I asked for a refund I was even told that you have to write in and ask for this, yet payment is taken via Credit/Debit card so why can't refunds be done in the same way.
The whole company is a Joke and I wish I had'nt bothered.
SO ANYONE THINKING OF SUBSCRIBING TAKE MY ADVICE AND DONT BOTHER

I will give them another month to sort this out as I find the programes to be good and the football coverage excellent but if I can't get my money back then I will cancel with all the problems that intails, at least I am on the no contract deal so will send my letter by registered post so I can get proof of delivery all this negative comment is not a good start for Setanta its a pity really as the product is very good and we all needed another company to take on Skys dominance of Football come on Setanta play fair with your customers as you do have a lot of support from Foottie fans

Isnt £19.99 the normal amount for the first month? As I read it they take two months in advance. Or was it the connection fee, something like that.

No it was an overcharge I had already paid the connection fee and the extra month already they just took it all again , That can happen I supose, but my moan is that having made the error they are making it very difficult for me to get a refund passing me from pillar to post then getting me to write in then ignoring my letter and all those phone calls are at a premium rate, I dread to think what my phone bill will be, I really hope you continue to have no problems because it is very flustrating dealing with Setanta when you do

  • Dear all

I took out the Setanta no contract on 13th August 2007. Since then I have tried to cancel the service but to no avail. I have been told I need to give 30 days notice from 13th September 2007. I said OK, and assume one more payment and cancel. Now they tell me I have to make 2 more payments due to when DD is taken!! Doh! Yeah right?

I have now written to Setanta stating they may take 1 more payment and then I will instruct my CC company to cancel all further payments.

This company is a rip off as far as I am concerned. They make money from the 0870 number too.

No matter how much you live sports stay away from Setanta.

I would always say to cancel anything in writing, that way you have evidence
  • Thanks for that. I have written a letter to that address and as yet have had no reply. I have however received a response to my e-mail saying that someone has already looked at my problem, I however have not had a response and my money has not yet been refunded. I wait with baited breath to see what happens next.

a refund could take a while even if they did process it today

was it direct debit? you could possibly do a direct debit indemnity, and then the bank have to claim it back from them
  • I am sorry but I cannot see what the problem is here. I get the footie I want for £9.99 a month and no yearly contract, with a £10 connection fee.

No problem for me or Mrs Freddie. Of down now to watch the footie, feet up, beer, and cuddles from my Pu55y. The wife will get a cuddle as well!
