Favourite Nursery Rhymes

Our little one is now 17 months old and we have started singing nursery rhymes to her, I cant believe some of them as I had never heard of so many before.

Just wondering what everyone's favourite nursery rhymes are.

Our is Johny Johny Yes Papa and the Finger family,

I've never heard of the ones mentioned, apart from Incy Wincy Spider! The ones I used to "sing" to my kids were "Sing a song of sixpence, The grand old Duke of York, Ba ba blacksheep, Little Jack Horner, Mary Mary quite contrary" etc etc. :D

???????? Our daughter is not even 5, I took her to various children's groups and classes and I have no clue what rhymes/songs you are referring to.

I will be happy to never hear "wind the bobbin up" again. No kiddie-class seems to be complete without it these days.

I do love "twinkle, twinkle little star" - it reminds me of her Waterbabies swimming classes as she floated or doggy-paddled round me as we sang it at the end of each lesson.

Her Daddy is ecstatic that her her favourite song for the last 2 years is "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones. Ay, Oh ... Let's Go!!!! :T

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet,
Her clothes all tattered and torn,
It wasn't the spider that crept up beside her,
But Little Boy Blue with his horn.

    Frere Jacques, Frere Jacques,
    Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines, sonnez les matines
Ding dang dong, ding dang dong.

    English version:

Are you sleeping, are you sleeping?
    Brother John, Brother John?
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing
Ding dang dong, ding dang dong.

One of the little ones on the sports team I coach is obsessed with Bullet For My Valentine.

    She's 8. :rotfl:Bless her!

I remember thinking it was quite cool when I discovered Little Miss Muffet is essentially eating cottage cheese :)

We got our 20 month old grandson 'My First Album'. He loves 'If you're happy and you know it.", "The wheels on the bus.", "Looby Loo." and "Mulberry bush / This is the way..." He does all the actions correctly, unlike granddad.
