Car insurance dilemma

What bonus did your renewal notice state?
On the statement of fact it would also list any claims applicable on your policy. I find it hard to believe that you were never notified of a claim being made. As the insurers would generally ask for your opinion etc. Who repaired your vehicle from the damage?0 -

They will assume you didn't declare the accident as you didn't think they would find out without a claim. That may lead them to be distrusting of you, hence the cancellation rather than amended premium
The key part is when insurance ask you if you've had any accidents or claims. Not accidents with claims.
At the time that advice was given by a different insurance company.
And for a little mischief... No I have never had an ACCIDENT (incident happening by chance or mishap), I've only had a COLLISION (by the politically correct definition - caused, not an accident).
Strict interpretation of word works both ways ;-)0 -

Well I'm sure they don't like being on the receiving end but I'd equally bet they like dishing it out!0 -

It turns out I'm fine to just cancel the policy myself. You guys had me worrying for a moment
But I do lose my no claims bonus and my insurance more than doubles. But it could be worse0 -
It'll come down gradually after a bit of time and eventually you won't need to declare the accident at all with the accident.
Even if you do have to pay some fees for cancelling it yourself it's better than them cancelling as that bad marker stays with you for life. All your base are belong to us.0 -
Get them to confirm in writing that they have NOT now cancelled your policy !!It turns out I'm fine to just cancel the policy myself. You guys had me worrying for a moment

(And keep the letter safe for the future in case this comes back to bite you if they have actually put this cancellation (by them) on your record that they put in writing to you)0
