Cannot downgrade Sky?

Hi there,
I have the Family Bundle but due to a new smart TV, i'm making use of the apps (Netflix, 4oD, iPlayer etc). So my Sky is just wasting away. I wanted to downgrade from the Family Bundle to the original but the operator said I am in contract with them for the Bundle, rather than the TV services itself.
I've been with Sky before & never had issues with downgrading subscriptions within my 12month period. So I just wondered if this was a new thing they did or if the operator is trying to pull one over on me?
Thanks.

You can change your Sky package with a months notice normally, but if you are inside the minimum term of a contract where you were told you couldn't downgrade, then obviously could cannot downgrade penalty free, I called Sky a while ago unhappy with what they charge, they reduced the price by 50% for 10 months but it was a 12 month deal, so I have to accept 2 months of full price before trying for a new deal or cancelling ,0

The family bundle put you into a new 12 month contract in which that is the base bundle. You can still add and remove sports and movies but you cannot downgrade that bundle within the first 12 months.0

I discovered this yesterday , luckily i was 2 months out so was charged £2.71 early termination to be able to get down to `original`Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

Is this still the case if you are offererd a dicounted Sky Sports upgrade ? I'm currently paying £14.40 pm for the family bundle (60% discount) and I've got 4 months left of my 12 month contract. Sky have offered me Sky Sports for just £10.20 a month ? however, will this mean that I have to sign a fresh 12 months contract ? or can I drop everything once my 'deal' finishes in 4 months time ?The family bundle put you into a new 12 month contract in which that is the base bundle.
