Hello. I am trying to work out how much money I will lose next april. Every calc gives a difference answer. My hubby earns £23400 p.a. I receive carers allowance. We have 2 kids under 14 yr old both on dla, one highest rate care one middle rate. We do not get working tax credits or housing benefit this year. But I rely on my child tax. So far I am lead to believe through various calculators for 2016/17 i will either lose all child tax or £2294.20 a year. Either way not good. Hubbys overtime is varied and not guaranteed. How are we to meet rent £475 this year and council tax £170 food car school dinners/uniform clothes shoes bills in general? Do we just say stop growing! Stop needing heat food stuff for school! get rid of car declare bankruptcy because we cant afford bills? Why are this government hell bent on killing us. The services for our autistic kids have been dwindled to nothing and now we are not going to be able to live. I am crushed and dispirited.
I understand that you're angry but at what point should a family no longer be dependent on the tax payer to pay their bills?0 -

Whoop, due to the £40 per week I'm losing in tax credits, I'll gain £4 per week in council tax reductions. :beer:0 -
Can anyone tell me if the disability element of WTC is affected in the changes and if so how? I've tried googling but can only find info on claiming the disability element, not any changes.:j0

Does anyone have a calculator to work out how much Universal Credit will drop by in 2016/2017? I've seen loads of Tax Credit Calculators, but none which will show UC amounts after the changes.0

I think Entitled To had an option to calculate for UC?
One thing a lot of people may not be aware of are some of the eligibility criteria. If you own / part own the home you live in (mortgage) or if you have savings / shares / capital above £6000 you will not be able to claim UC.0 -

entitled to will only compare it to UC before the cuts next year.
The bit about having a mortgage isn't true is it? I know the £16k (not £6k, it reduces from £6k) is true, but there's no way they'll hit people with a mortgage further as we've been hit badly enough by the tax credit cut.0 -
I have been following your thread on the tax credits 16/17. I am really struggling to understand how this is going to affect me as I am a single working mum with 2 children. I work part time (17 hours) and my income is 12500 a year. My youngest is at a preschool where I pay £55 for childcare. To add to to it all, I am goingthrough a divorce where my ex wants to know how much my income will be next year as we cannot agree a financial settlement. I really need to know how badly this is going to affect me as i don't think I will be able to afford a mortgage with the pending changes. help?0

Amongst the Eligibility Criteria
You won't be able to make a claim yet if either you or your partner if you have one:
* own or partly own the home in which you live
* have more than £6,000 worth of savings, shares or capital (total of all capital whether held individually or jointly)0
