Has anyone had problems with deliveries from amazon/dpd

I ordered an item from amazon on Monday then on tuesday I get an email saying that the estimated delivery date is Wednesday so I clicked on tracking and my parcel was showing as being delivered to somewhere in London. I then contacted amazon and they told me not to worry they would contact dpd to update the correct status of my order. When I got home from work last night I checked the tracking and my parcel is on it's way to my local depot but when I checked the tracking this morning to see what time my parcel would be delivered the parcel is not at my local dpd but now in Manchester and the tracking is now showing that my parcel will be delivered thursday due to a delay  I've contacted amazon again and they said that my parcel is with the carrier and you no need to worry, your order will deliver today. I then tell them what the tracking is showing and they said they will contact dpd. I've now had another email for tracking and it's saying Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility.

DPD are IMO the best delivery company out there. This could be a mistake on their part, or Amazon, but if you paid for delivery I'm sure Amazon will refund you accordingly. Might be worth calling DPD directly if you want more specific information.0

Agreed. DPD are excellent.
One has to realise, of course, that such a company deals with tens of thousands of parcels per day, so even a minuscule error rate of, say, 0.01% is going to cause a few people to have problems each day. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I have found DPD good to deal with. Better than some companies I could mention.0

The first part is because DPD recycle tracking numbers so Amazon would have sent out the tracking number just before DPD cleared the previous tracking information - this is common and normally it's such a short time between Amazon giving you the tracking number and DPD updating it that no one usually notices. This hasn't has an impact on the complications later that have since happened.
What has probably happened is that it has been dispatched to DPD and then either from Amazons Warehouse or from a DPD facility, your parcel has been loaded on to a wrong van.
Certainly frustrating but accidents happen - if you have paid for delivery and it's gone beyond the delivery date that was provided then Amazon will more than likely refund you for your delivery costs.0 -
Greatbeyond has summed it up pretty well.
I've yet to have a problem with DPD and most couriers reuse the tracking numbers after several months (otherwise the tracking numbers would rapidly get stupidly long and all the tracking software/barcode readers would need updating).
I've only caught DPD out once with the reused tracking number, but had one of the others not update the tracking number despite the package being out for delivery (I had to ring up because it went from "out for delivery" to "call customer service", apparently the system still had the old number in use somewhere in the system and when the tracking updated to "out for delivery" it gave a default error).0 -
I was out on Thursday past and DPD attempted to deliver a parcel, they left a card saying "if this is our 1st attempt at delivery we will try re-delivery next day"
I stayed in until 4pm on the Friday, but my wife was still in, no delivery, went on to their website and put in tracking details, up comes the message, as per your instructions we will deliver on Monday 20th July, I never asked them to deliver it this Monday, have sent a mail asking why this happened?0 -
Now been changed again, guess they originally forgot about a local holiday, also guessing they must just have a standard message saying you requested change as oppossed to them saying they changed the date
Your estimated delivery date is Tuesday 21 July 2015 as requested0 -
I've had a few disappointing DPD's deliveries. They have been meant to deliver to my office but have claimed nobody was in. This is a 2,000 employee building which is open during the timeslot they try and deliver. DPD are the only company who have done this (Yodel and Hermes have been excellent).0
