Npower are wasting my time
Many months ago I finally escaped npower after many months of appalling service. My accounts were fully settled by me at that time.
Recently npower have started sending me random revised final bills for my closed gas account. (One day they would say I owe them an amount, the next day that would be cancelled and they would say they owe an amount.)
Finally it seemed to settle down and they sent me a cheque for around £150. Within a day or two they demanded I pay them the same amount. They have not acknowledge any mistake their bill simply comes to the same amount as the cheque they sent.
So far I have not cashed the cheque as I hoped they would realise their mistake, cancel the cheque and stop billing me.
However I am now getting reminders.
So what should I do? My temptation is to cash the cheque and write to them offering to pay the same amount possibly less an amount (e.g. £10 or £25) for my time, provided they accept this amount as full and final settlement of my account. In return I will agree not to cash any further cheques they decide to send me in respect of this account. By getting in writing their agreement to this being fully and finally settled I hope to be able to safely ignore any further correspondence from them about the account.
What do you think? My aim is to get this sorted out once and for all and not be bothered by them ever again.

Being one of the poor saps on the phone in the past, I hated seeing people write 'complaint' on a thread as soon as a small issue appeared. In a lot of other threads, the issue could have been resolved on the front line (the first advisor you speak to).
Not here though. You will need to raise this as a complaint and go through the process. I would start by asking for a full explanation for the constant rebilling. This is not necessarily for you, but the complaint handler may then see the problem and know how to stop any future billing on the account. I would wager a guess at something being very amiss within their change of supply department.
And a small goodwill gesture seems appropriate considered you have put up with the nonsense and not even cashed their cheque.0 -

Hi naedanger
Thanks for your post.
I'm sorry to learn you've had numerous issues with your final bill(s) with npower. If you can send me an email using the details on our profile page and mark it for my attention, I'll make sure that a) the bill is correct and b) any balance is clear, be it credit or debit, whilst checking against our Back Billing policy for final accounts.
If you can confirm the date you switched/moved along with any meter readings you have for that date, that'd be really helpful and allow me to check it against our records. Mark the email for my attention or put MSE in the subject header.
Kind regards
