Boiler and energy saving

Hello, my wife receives high mobility and middle care, I receive low care and mobility. My son has just been awarded middle care and low mobility DLA.

My wife and I work full time and bring home jointly £48k per annum.

What we want to know is what financial support/grants we are eligible for based on our disability benefits for a replacement boiler and other energy savings methods?

I tried Energy Savings Trust but they are not responding!

Thanks.

Clive

thats right we can't afford it as we've only just moved into this house and the boiler is iffy. We're exploring all options.

Ask your local council if there are any schemes locally: I know ours is doing something wrt insulation at minimal cost, not sure about boilers.

Also (not going to trawl other threads) I assume you've had the boiler serviced and been advised it's not economical to repair? We nursed one through several winters at work which should have been replaced but were able to keep it going with tlc ...

  • I found out today, completely by chance, that if you're on DLA/PIP you can get roughly £150 paid into your energy account (by the government I think). It's one of those things you're supposed to find out for yourself, apparently! I'm on EON but I think it applies to all energy companies - contact your provider to find out.

Is it a sliding scale? I got £12 on my electric last winter.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I believe you mean Warm Home discount. I would be very surprised if the OP is eligible with their energy providef due to household income as most of the eligible criteria for this discount relates to income based benefits.

I don't know, I only found out about it because my hubby mentioned my disability in passing when he rang EON - they're sending me some info in the post.
