From your earlier post - a comment from montrealconvention.org
    5. Receipts

Article 22.2 imposes liability on air carriers for the safe carriage of baggage and the end part of the Article 22.2 imposes an obligation upon the air carrier to either accept your valuation and settle the claim with you in that amount, or if not satisfied by your valuation then they may proceed to prove otherwise.
So what was Easyjet's response when you quoted article 22.2?

They are ignoring me, they just said that I signed the indemnity form and its going ahead. (Even though its not filled in with their specific requirements) can anyone tell me for a witness statement- do you need name and signature? that is what they asked for and the witness has only provided the signature. Is this form now invalid?

Wouldn't you be better off asking montrealconvention.org all these question, they are the ones providing you with the information for your claim.

I think I am best asking around- not putting all eggs in one basket. I want to know what the community says about this so I have an all round answer and maybe this can help people in a similar situation

What was the wording on the indemnity form?

Have you asked montrealconvention.org about the implications of submitting to Easyjet a signed (but not putting a name) indemnity form?

Have you gone back to montrealconvention.org and told them what Easyjet have said?

No, I do not have a pound sign - sorry

If you have a numerical keypad on your keyboard, hold down the Alt key and type in 0163 then release the Alt key.
This should give you a £ symbol.

you seem to be confusing the limit/maximum with a fixed fee

    1,131SDR is around £1,010 today
An airline could offer someone £400 for their lost case and the passenger then can produce receipts for items in the case with a value of £5,000, whilst this will see the £400 offer increase, it will not see it go over the £1,010 limit/maximum
If you read your response from Montreal convention I cannot see where they say you are automatically entitled to the maximum. Have you listed contents that total over £1,010?
In many cases you would be better claiming from your travel insurance (especially in cases where the claim is for more than the limit)

    SDR = Special Drawing Rights

The July 15th exchange rate to GBP is 1.11862 (from the IMF website table).

I think Caz is almost certainly right that you are confusing maximum with entitled to. I doubt if you'll get any more out of Easyjet if you don't have receipts.

No, what montreal convention stated that I DONT have to prove anything LESS than 1,131 sdr. Do you see where my confusion is.This is why I am asking on here. Saying that, thank you for all your input.
