Unfriend someone of facebook - will they be notified?

I found out my ex-neighbour had defriended me because I didn't invite her to my house warming party in my new house. I didn't realise she had been offended until mutual friends were talking about some rubbish she had put on facebook and I realised I couldn't see it.
I swear the adults are more childish than the kids on FB, especially the women, for some reason. Maybe they just use it more.Vinnybro1988 wrote: »I came off Facebook about 12 months ago. One of my best decisions as you actually find out who your true mates are :T
I deleted my account years ago. Ditto, best decision I've ever made. :beer:0 -

Definitely. I don't know many men who are petty and catty on facebook, it is almost always women.
If it was someone I have little to do with, I would just unfriend them.
Facebook doesn't tell them.cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -
I "unfollowed" my cousin as i got so bored of his "the world owes me a living and the Tory government have ruined everything" rants. Given his parents are self employed and have worked incredibly hard and long hours to build up their business, I have no idea where his attitude has come from of wanting everything handed to him! Hopefully he will grow out of it!
It would have been a little rude just to unfriend him!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Defriending didn't work for me. I decided to 'defriend' every last person on my friends list and start again following a so-called 'friend' taking exception to something I put on my timeline and he started a hate campaign against me getting his 'friends' to send me abuse. I couldn't be bothered with it so figured I'd start from scratch and see how long it took people to notice.
Within a week my family were sending me abuse for deleting them from FB. It seems that they aren't capable of keeping up to date with me unless it's through online social media. When I mentioned that I still had a home phone, email address and a mobile number they said they'd rather contact me on FB than come and see me or contact me through other mediums.
Congratulations! That is the best advertisement I have ever seen for avoiding social media sites like Facebook that I have ever seen. Really, what sort of people behave like that?
I have studiously avoided getting involved with either Facebook or Twitter, despite persuasion from some others including my daughter. The attitude of some seems to be how can you live your life without Facebook!! I think your experience shows exactly why I don't get involved. It's easy enough upsetting thin-skinned folk on forums without risking a word out of place with people you actually know.:rotfl::dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -
Actually, if you use FB Purity, you do get notifications if you lose someone off your friends list. It could be because they have deactivated their account,or been suspended but usually it's because of defriending.

Unfollowing and a restricted list work for me. Only have people with real vendettas blocked (I'd love to not need to block anyone, but it happens). Some of of my family are on restricted, which means they only see my public posts and not my friends-only posts.
Not perfect, but works ok:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Thanks heavens I have never signed uo to Facebook. i must be one of these weird people who can manage their personal relatioships without worrying 'who has defriended who'. It sounds reminiscent of kids falling out in a childrens' playground!0
