closeing 123 credit card

no doubt its me , but because of the free time you get before the next bill arrives , i continually seem to have a biggish bill every month & we cannot remember all the purchases we have made .
i have talked to the wife about just getting the petrol , shopping , on the card only & anything that does not give cash back we will pay on our debit card , we have no problems paying the credit in full every month , it just seems never ending,
we have had £136 back since we opened the account some 4 years ago , obviously we are not useing it properly , my wife will draw her weekly money , say £170 & spend it on various things for the week shop & will say pay asda cash on the thursday weekly shop.
i think i have answered my own questions ,but how does our cash back compare to you good people out there?, & i am opened to suggestions on how to get the best use of our credit cards?.
we have no problems really with the 123 accounts we have , i just top them up to the max occasionally & make full use of the interest .
thanks for your reply
I only opened mine earlier this year and for fuel and train travel alone I am on target to receive the full £108 once the year is up (£9 max per month in that category). A quick glance at my statement reveals I am averaging £14 per month in cashback so the other £3 is made up of supermarket shopping and I have bought quite a few things recently from department stores due to a wedding so will expect it to drop to an average of £11/12 per month henceforth so my on target earnings for my first year should be circa £140-150 at a conservative guess as there was no fee for the first year. The second year even if I just spent on the fuel/travel category alone, £108 less £24 fee would still see me in £84 profit for the year. So in comparison to your sum of £136 cashback for sum total of 4 years, assuming I had held my card for the same time as you have, I would have made just shy of £400 in cashback and that’s working on not adding supermarket shopping etc.
Obviously everyone will be different according to their lifestyle and spending habits, but £136 for 4 years does seem like you are not utilising it to its maximum capacity at all.
Why not get your wife to put any cash she withdraws or do a bank transfer towards the Santander card and then use that to spend on it instead?I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. My qualifying purchases recently have been very light on this card and the majority of my CB comes from diesel spends.
Over the last 6 months I have received the following CB
June £5.64
May £8.36
Apr £3.85
Mar £8.21
Feb £2.65
Jan £4.08
Not bad for little use, plus I am currently on a 0% on BT and all purchases so as long as I make at least £2 per month on CB the card pays for itself.

thankyou , i realise i have not used it to its full potential & as from today we have agreed to use it on all cashback deals , ie shopping & petrol mostly..
and now i will remember where the moneys gone every month with the new care we are both takeing.
thankyou0
