Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Natty for last week's thread

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

If anyone fancies doing some summer challenges, to make things interesting, then post away!

This is our final week of school, so I'm pledging to ditch any unwanted school gear by this time next week, and also to get the kiddies to sort through any artwork and make a small scrapbook of their school year - which may take longer than a week!

This summer I'm going to complete 1 declutter mission each week, starting with unwanted toilettries!

Anyone who wants to join me, just post away, and keep telling us about your progress!

    :D

Thank you to Bossy for the new thread and to Natty for last week's. I might just manage tomorrow's list ;)

As to summer challenges, mine have to be
    (1) finish the rock garden
    (2) tidy the rest of the garden
and (3) clear the study bedroom (which is more than just a declutter and clean, as it also involves finishing off all these boxes which have been in my way for months).

Anyway, as I am around for much of the week, I have no excuse not to start tomorrow as I mean to go on. Whether I manage to keep it up is another matter...

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks all round, as needed x
  • Thanks for thread!

My summer mission is to finish decorating the entrance hall. I started this six months ago.:(

Thank you for the thread, Bossy.

I wasn't sure whether to creep in quietly and hide at the back or stroll in nonchalantly as if I hadn't been away for ages.

For this week I'll commit to doing something from the list every day whilst getting organised for a proper start. Routines will be odd in July - last week at work before the summer, then DS2's last week at junior school (with an operation for DS1 in the middle of it) followed by DS1 moving into his first own home.

We'll be away for a week in August, neatly sandwiched between rounds of 'room tetris' involving flinging, cleaning and decorating, all on the back of DS1's departure. I need to clean and decorate his loft bedroom, move our bed and some furniture up, clean and decorate our front bedroom ready for DS2 (who has so far only had a walk-through room and is over the moon), move the rest of our stuff out and DS2's stuff in. I hope this counts as my summer project...

Needless to say the rest of the house is also in a pretty poor state and needs a lot of TLC. Been living up to my user name, I'm afraid.

But - I'm in and it's lovely to be back. :)

    Marvellous Monday! - Bathrooms!
    Level 1
    Clean the sink
    Clean the loo
    Level 2
    Clean the bath

    ETA - My extras
Clean litter tray and sweep bathroom floor, handwash a few items, text a friend

Book electrician to do works and have said works done

I have the next couple of weeks off so my frog list is

    Post birthday cards x 3
    Order birthday presents x 2
Chase !kea - paid for new kitchen 2 weeks ago, heard nothing since
    Change address on car insurance
    Sort spare rooms
