Yes this is par for the course, they have to ask you to repay by such an such a date, it's just something they have to do.

It's totally meaningless to you, previous advice still applies, ignore it, and carry on regardless !!

thank you! sorry for sounding a bit... dim ! worried me for a moment

    thanks again
Started comping October 2011, no wins as of yet. Would really love to win a short uk break so we can take the children away :D Thank you to everyone who takes the times to post competitions and good luck:j
  • Hi there. I haven't posted much recently but I do log on everyday. We are self managed (nedcab - fantastic). For lots of reasons we've being making token payments for the last 8 months. 6 out of the 8 debts are defaulted - including the elusive BC so I can definitely recommend token payments for forcing defaults!
I plan to start paying our dmp in September - I've played around with the figures. We're within the nedcab ranges apart from petrol - I drive a lot for work and although I get mileage back its not great and certainly doesn't cover wear and tear. Fellow self managed dmp'rs - do you include your budget sheet? I haven't but I'm wondering if they will ask for one. I'm not really that bothered or worried to be honest - some of you may remember that about the same time that our financial world caved in my daughter also needed psychiatric care. It was a great perspective giver. I'm just wondering what to expect.
    LBM 2/12/15 - total debt £62500:shocked::shocked::exclamati::eek:
    2/216 £29500 unenforceable.

    Hi Little Miss

Lovely to see you on the forum :)

I sent in my budget sheet to all my predators when we went self managed. A couple challenged some of our figures but stuff em....we still just pay what we told them we would.

Hope all still going well with your unenforceables.....we haven't heard from ours in months :j

Thank Jan15. I'll see what comes back and take it from there. I've not heard a thing from our unenforceables. They are not defaulted either. Although things are improving I've got lots of evidence to back up our situation - so like you say stuff em - they'll get what they get and no more!!

Hi, we started our DMP in march this year. best thing we've ever done it seems! no hassle at all. Today we received a letter saying a default has been issued from one of our creditors and we need to pay in full.... really?! we can't

    Hi Gawebb

Yes they are quite shocking this type of letter, I still have a sharp intake when I get one, but they are a legal requirement before/when issuing a default. What you have to remember is that most defaulters are people who've run away from the debt and aren't paying, but we are the good guys, in there for the long haul and facing up to our debts.

As the others say, just file the default letters and keep paying as normal.

  • Hi Guys! Super inspirational seeing all the good stuff!

Just a quick query. Shall be being made redundant end of next month, however after speaking to CAB it looks as though my income won't be dramatically less and I shall be receiving payment in lieu of leave for 2 months. I currently only pay a small amount a month for my DMP and should be able to cover it still on benefits (having already adjusted to having very little spare money after having hours cut in half at work). I'm hoping to be able to find employment ASAP though I know that might not happen. Should I go onto token payments or just keep paying what I am at the moment? I want to just keep paying what I am but I don't want to balls everything up.
Also this has given me a push to look at doing a part time degree to try and work my way towards primary teaching. I can get Student finance to cover the cost of this but is it crazy taking on a student loan at this point? I know they are different and hopefully this will help me be able to get a better paying job in the future as all I'm qualified for at the moment is entry level.

Any insight would be much appreciated :)
  • Hi

Thanks for the advice just a quick update. I called SC who didnt beat me with a stick or anything despite my worries! Gone onto token payments of £15 for next 2 months or possibly 3. They have suggested a review of my budget following this and looking at reducing my overall payments to allow me to put some cash by for car issues in the future. Super easy to do.

One thing tho they said they would inform my creditors i was dropping payments and that they recommend i should too. As they are already telling them do i need to write to them as well or can i just leave it?
Anything is possible if you believe
