    Hi all,

Has anyone tried to get a mobile phone deal whilst on a DMP with a shot credit history. I need to get my daughter a phone now she has started high school and didn't know if there was any point trying to get a monthly contract. Is it worth trying anyway, is there anything to lose other then the embarrassment of rejection?

    Thanks

    G1W

Usually if you already have a contact phone, you can get a 'second line' without having to go through a credit check, as long as your phone bills are up to date.

I am on EE, and did this last month for my daughter.

This prob the wrong thread and please don't feel like I'm rubbing thing in people face but I just got a decision through that means I will have enough to clear one of my debts which just leave one more to tackle.

I've been too sick to work nearly a year and on my DMP for 8 months so all my benefit money has been going to clear debts. (Thank god for my parents)

By the end of August, I will have paid 58.28% of my total debt and my new debt free date will be 31/12/2016. I'm only 28 but I've spent the past decade in debt.

Thank you all for helping me get to this point with support and information. You have no idea how much you have helped me out.

You can get a really cheap phone at Asda that will do everything for
£12.50. Get a PAYG sim. You can control how much credit is on the phone. If kid wasn't a better phone then you can get them to save up poket money or do extra jobs around the house.

Hi, we started our DMP in march this year. best thing we've ever done it seems! no hassle at all. Today we received a letter saying a default has been issued from one of our creditors and we need to pay in full.... really?! we can't
Started comping October 2011, no wins as of yet. Would really love to win a short uk break so we can take the children away :D Thank you to everyone who takes the times to post competitions and good luck:j

Standard computerised letter and defaults are good as they fall off your credit file 6 years from date of default. Arrangement to pay or dmp markers stay for 6 years from when the debt is settled.

No not at all, they have to send you the default notice as a legal requirement, it does not take your DMP payments into account.

You don't need to do a thing, carry on as you are.

thanks - its not a warning that i may be defaulted, it is an actual default on my account now. they did warn this may happen, and they've done it now.

Yes this is par for the course, they have to ask you to repay by such an such a date, it's just something they have to do.

It's totally meaningless to you, previous advice still applies, ignore it, and carry on regardless !!
