Yes - apparently I am on the latest version.

I can access iPlayer via the web browser on the TV but this is a bit convoluted and a pain.

I am hoping to speak to Samsung support directly and find out if there is a way to get the app installed.

OK I have just got off Live Chat with Samsung support. Having tried multiple resets nothing has worked. The Samsung rep has stated there is a known issue with missing apps and has stated there is nothing to be done other than waiting for a fix to be released.

As I said to them, I have had great experiences with Samsung TVs since 2011 but allowing this so called 'Smart TV' to be sold with a 'known issue' preventing a crucial app (in my opinion of course) to work displays significant contempt for their buying public.

This TV is being returned to the retailer and I won't be buying Samsung TVs again.

Thank you, but unfortunately it doesn't resolve the problem on my tv. Maybe because the firmware version is different? Who knows... Very frustrating.

The simplest solution I found was to buy a Now TV box for £7.99 (topcashback) and use that for catchup services. It has the added advantage of being a Roku box in disguise so you can make it run Plex and use it as a media server as well.

Despite what I said, I also bought a NowTV as it was cheaper (and considerably less hassle) than taking the TV back and buying something else with equivalent spec (but working catch up TV services). The NowTV does work very well indeed (and have made sure I am not going to be autorenewed).

I am still very annoyed with Samsung though as the TV still does not do what it claimed and yet this is an issue that doesn't affect everyone with the same TV. Something not right there.

It never did appear on the LG either, in fact a lot of apps on that have actually been cut altogether (though nothing we used). Still using the NowTV here running plex. We have a box on all TV's and the media server works wonderfully with it.

From time to time the boxes will be reduced down to under a tenner with 2 months movies or entertainment, we tend to buy those for DD then sell on the box.

I started this thread way back. I was sorely tempted to return the TV but Samsung assured me that it would be rectified, so I hung on. Eventually, BBC, ITV, Ch 4 and 5 catch ups all appeared but one or more disappeared after every upgrade. Next time they all worked, I turned off automatic upgrades and it's been OK since.

I don't think it's good enough not to state that some of these may not work before purchase and to show screen shots with all of the above apps present. Personally, I wouldn't buy a Samsung TV again.

UE48J5500 -- it had an updated operating system. A friend with a similar model and the old system had no problems at all.
