Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

I just double checked mine and it's the ue32j5500, it has demand 4 pre installed and iplayer available for download (just downloaded it to make sure it work) so it looks like they are becoming available but you have to go looking for them0

Just get a PVR and record the programmes you want to watch if you don't like watching live.
This.
The only minor disadvantage is that you have to pre-check the listings and may not get something if you forget or it's recommended to you after transmission.
But the plus side is it's very reliable and you can watch things long after they were transmitted.
This can work very well if it's a short series and you would like to watch it over a couple of days. Recently, for example, I'm sure I got a lot more out of 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell' by being able to watch it in 2 hour chunks over consecutive nights. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
As Martin Lewis has pointed out, if you ONLY use catchup services such as 4OD, Iplayer and the like, you do NOT need a tv licence.
BUT if you use a PVR to record programmes to watch at some future time, then you DO need to buy a licence because you are recording live transmissions.0 -
Not bothered about the licence fee. Well worth it to miss the adverts and maintain some quality programmes that may not be commercial. Still think I've been misled if the ad for the TV shows all the catch-ups.
Tried downloading iPlayer but to no avail.Je suis sabot...0 -

On mine I found it by pressing content, choosing featured (on the bottom left) then choose the apps option. If you scroll along the top of apps to most popular it is second one in, once you've clicked on it the download button appears.
I tried searching for itv player but it's not on there yet, didn't check if demand 5 was there.
Although we did look at the smart features when buying, that wasn't the reason for getting this model, we already have the LG with better smart features, a laptop we can connect via HDMI, Apple TV and an Amazon firestick so we already had all our smart needs catered for before getting this set.0 -

And several of the PVRs have very good on demand service. Agree on the 2 hour chunks, 1 hour just doesn't seem long enough for good programmes. It's someone else's fault.0 -
I bought a UE32J5500 (2015 model) yesterday with the express purpose of using BBC iPlayer (TV is for the kids so they can watch The Next Steps anywhere I'm not!) as we have been very happy with our other Samsung Smart TVs.
Despite the claims that Catch Up TV services are readily available (including iPlayer) we only have Netflix and YouTube available (and some other apps that I've never heard of and have no interest in whatsoever).
When I search the web on the model and catch up tv/iPlayer I see some responses from Samsung support claiming iPlayer is available - it isn't!!! Unless it's hidden somewhere very hard to find.
I am very annoyed at the moment to say the least. Yes, I could use another piece of equipment to source iPlayer but why should I have to? This was sold with a picture of iPlayer on the screen. It doesn't do what it said on the tin.0 -
Have you checked for a software update?0
