I got a call at work today.Just checking I did work there I suppose. A few questions and I was accepted for a Sky card.0% till Jan 2006.
As I cancelled Sky tv last month I thought they might try to persuade me to take it again as a condition, but no.Pressure to take insurance - then given 1 month free.Mustn`t forget to cancel it asap.

Yup. They rang me on Saturday and accepted me - told me the APR and the limit. Tried to sell insurance - no. One month free trial? No. Card Protection? No. Get the card within 7 days. Lovely!

Got an application form in the post this morning (I didn't request one but am a Sky customer). It's unclear what the points are worth - yes you get 1 per £1 spent but are they worth 1p each or 0.1p or whatever each and if I get 500 of them can I just take that off my monthly subscription or do I have to get enough to pay a whole months subs?

4100 points means £41.00 so 500 points is £5.00pinkonion wrote:Got an application form in the post this morning (I didn't request one but am a Sky customer). Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
Seems to me then that unless you have loads of money the points don't have much of a benefit. Spending £4100 just to get one month of the full package free.....I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't even spend half that on a credit card.
There's only a gain in this for the moneybag earners who look down on the rest of us common folk

I have not applied for one (yet) but if you put your weekly shop and petrol on the card + say a holiday cost, then it would soon add up and I'm sure that between everything I would expect to spend around £8k on a card in a year, so in theory that would give me 2 free months of the top package.
Alternatively I could stay with my present card get .5% cashback and spend the money on anything I like.
Decisions Decisions.

The points will not help me as I don`t have Sky anymore. Nor the 0% BT as nothing to transfer. But it does mean that my credit record must be getting better .Even Cap1 refused me under normal terms earlier.
Now I can stop using my ex-wifes old card (with her permission as named user). No more "what were you doing in Sheffield last month".0 -
I'd have just said "watching the snooker at the Crucible." That would shut her up

What APR and credit limit did they say you were getting?0 -
Limit was £3500 and APR was 15.76. Not the cheapest but don`t care as I intend to clear every month.Doubt if I`ll even make use of 0% on purchases.
If she`d read the statement better, she would have seen that I bought a pair of shoes for our youngest daughter.
Daughter now filling in forms for performing arts holiday week (see holiday forum). Thanks Martin.0 -
My APR was 24.9% with a limit of £500. Probably because I moved house 3 weeks ago and I was not on the electoral roll when I applied. I am now though so I may appeal the limit and APR.0
